10.5.7 - Bluetooth keyboard and mouse not working anymore

Updated to 10.5.7 and since then after some minutes my Appley wireless keyboard and the mighty mouse do no work anymore.

Note that the connection is not lost. When I then turn bluetooth off, the system tells me that the connection got lost and when I turn it on again it works as before. But after some minutes it won't works.

This happens on a new MBP.

How can I solve this problem?

MBP, Dual Xeon, Mac OS X (10.5.7)

Add me to the list of the afflicted. I have a mid-2008 15" unibody MacBook Pro with the 2.5 GHz processor, and never had any problems with Bluetooth until 10.5.7. Now, just like everyone else here, my Mighty Mouse will stop working at least once a day without actually losing connectivity. Turn Bluetooth off/on, and it starts working again until the next time.

Installed the Bluetooth 2.0 patch and that seemed to work for about a day, but the problem started again last night. This is an extremely annoying, unacceptable situation, especially coming from a company whose motto is "it just works." Even worse, 10.5.7 was specifically touted as fixing Bluetooth connectivity issues, of which I had none until I installed that godforsaken update...

I agree that it ought to be a good idea to report my continuing Bluetooth problems (after the BT Firmware V.2 update) to bugreport.apple.com.

The trouble is, that doesn't work, either. I've just tried to submit a report, only to get a response from the website stating that: "An error has occurred. Please report the error to Apple Inc. by emailing the error detail to devbugs@apple.com".

I'm now waiting for my emailed error report to bounce, with the message "An error has occurred. Please report the error to Apple Inc. by carrier pigeon".

(Incidentally, simply opening "Bluetooth" in System Preferences seems to provide a temporary "fix" for me, too.)

Yep.. that's the same problem I've got. Every couple of days my ApplePro Aluminum Keyboard and my Mighty Mouse stop working, this is despite in the bluetooth preferences saying that they're still connected.

The only solution to this is that I have to open up the lid, and turn bluetooth off and then on again. The mouse and keyboard do start working again. While it's not the end of the world, it certainly is enough to annoy me.

But this never happen on my old MBP... I wish i still had it.
If not just for the DVI port, and extra FW.

It's not your Macbook Pro. I have the older one, early 2008 Macbook Pro 2.5/2.0/250, and mine worked perfectly until I upgraded to 10.5.7. Under 10.5.6 and earlier I never had the problem. The issue isn't your hardware, it's 10.5.7.

You can always do an archive and install and upgrade to 10.5.6 and it should fix the problem. Pain in the ***, but it will do the job. Since I only use a mighty mouse, it's easier for me to just plug in an optical mouse until the problem is fixed.

Same problems. I have the Early 2009 17" MacBook Pro. My Apple wireless keyboard and mouse cease to function but are shown as still connected. It happens several times a day and is now very irritating. Delving into the Bluetooth menu brings them back to life a few seconds later.

Also Safari has become very unstable crashing a dozen or so times a day. Also, when I lose the keyboard and mouse the trackpad is sometimes stuck in what I can only call "one finger scroll mode", i.e. I cannot do anything other than scroll within a Safari Window - can't select any menu item, anything on the desktop and the machine is totally unusable. I can't even shut down gracefully because Safari won't quit. 10.5.7 is a pain.
