Cannot install Adobe Air

I was wondering if anyone else was having a similar problem to mine. On my iMac I cannot install Adobe Air. I mount the .dmg and double click on the Adobe Air Installer and the only thing that it does is put an icon of the installer in the doc and nothing else. Can anyone help with this?

MacBook 13.3" Pre-Unibody/iMac 20" Aluminum, Mac OS X (10.5.6)

That is the same thing that I did before doing the stupid language thing from the guys blog, I just didn't need to create another account, my wife is an admin. Is that not one of the dumbest problems with the stupidest fixes ever?
