Add midi controller?

Hey everyone,

I recently picked up Logic Studio and am very excited to get started recording some of my stuff. So I plugged in my Novation Remote 25 LE Midi Keyboard/Controller and it didn't work. I went to Preferences and looked around for an answer on how to add. I got a list of some midi controllers but I have no idea how to get my working with Logic. I'm a novice to the program so any help provided will be helpful. All I want is to be able to control the logic synths with my Novation Remote 25 LE.

Thanks so much,
Henry

Why are you looking in the control surfaces preferences? You do not have a Logic supported control surface, you have a generic MIDI controller.

The Control Surfaces manual shows which devices are supported in Logic as a control surface.

As long as your keyboard is installed correctly and sending MIDI to Logic, you can configure it to do what you want with some work.

The manual is downloadable from the same page I linked to earlier.
Or here:

Includes update instructions on p. 20.

"Updating the operating system
The last page of the GLOBAL Edit menu allows a new
operating system to be received by the ReMOTE LE. To
access this page, press the GLOBAL button so that the LED
to the left of it illuminates, then scroll using the OCTAVE
UP (right arrow) button to page 6 so that the screen shows:

Now press the WRITE button to put the ReMOTE LE in
'waiting' mode, and transmit the OS update from the
Template Editor running on an attached computer. "

That's all the information given in the guide. I followed this one.

But like I said, I got an error. "Error! Abort download" or something similar to that. I tried searching the error, but I couldn't find a post about it.

I found that, and I found a guide to installing it, I followed it and get an error. :/

If it shows up in Utilities > Midi Setup

Should it be working?

Yes. See also Bee Jay's directions. Colonel Bee Jay, I mean... 🙂

This is so confusing, new program, new os!

The main problem seems to be the firmware of the Novation.
