Add midi controller?

Hey everyone,

I recently picked up Logic Studio and am very excited to get started recording some of my stuff. So I plugged in my Novation Remote 25 LE Midi Keyboard/Controller and it didn't work. I went to Preferences and looked around for an answer on how to add. I got a list of some midi controllers but I have no idea how to get my working with Logic. I'm a novice to the program so any help provided will be helpful. All I want is to be able to control the logic synths with my Novation Remote 25 LE.

Thanks so much,
Henry

Ok - OSX is definitely not seeing the Remote LE correctly, because it's not creating a virtual MIDI port.

This is the fundamental problem.

Try trashing the Audio MIDI Setup preferences and MIDI cache, rebooting and trying again. The goal is to make that device in the AMS show a MIDI port.

Uninstall/Remove any audio and MIDI drivers you may have installed.

Check and remove:
/Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers/*.plugin

Remove the AMS preferences here:
/Library/Preferences/com.apple.audio.AggregateDevices.plist
/Library/Preferences/com.apple.audio.DeviceSettings.plist
/Library/Preferences/com.apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist
/Users/ YOU/Library/Preferences/com.apple.audio/AudioMIDISetup.plist
/Users/ YOU*/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.MIDI

Reboot and try again...

Try a different USB port, try a different USB cable, if you're connecting through a hub, go directly into the computer, and power it with an adaptor, rather than the USB port, to see if that makes a difference. Can you try it on a different computer?

Also, create a new user account, and see whether it works in that - you might have something screwy in your user account.

I did exactly what you said and deleted all of those files, and restarted.

And does it show a port in the AMS icon now? Presumably not yet...

Why is this happening?

If I could tell you exactly what's going on and how to fixing, I wouldn't keep asking you to try stuff!
