I too get this error when I plug my ipod touch into itunes. Read through some of the solutions but unsure whether to try them as I have my ipod set to manually manage music & videos & the tab for music sync is not active - can't check or uncheck anything without first changing my ipod to automatically sync. Is there a way to fix this without changing to auto-sync?

Also I've never used the voice memos ever so why would it suddenly cause this error? (if it is that which is causing it)

If anyone is still having issues beyond this like I was, I found that if you did an iTunes Plus upgrade, that could be the issue. If you deleted the old 128 kbps file and then synced your iPod, iTunes may say it finds songs on the iPod that aren't in your library. Click do not transfer. However, if you did transfer, go back and delete the duplicate songs again. This fixed the error for me. Only had the issue on a 6th gen iPod nano, not an iPhone 4S or iPad 2.

Ok, so I spent 4 days (15 hours) working on this sync error 13019 with an ipod touch. I thought I would share my success in hopes that I can help others. I tried the uncheck sync music and then sync and then check the sync music and sync again. This did not work. Then I tried unchecking the playlist for voice memos. This did not work. I then deleted the voice memos from my ipod and syncing. This did not work. I tried restore from a backup. This did not work. I then did a full restore which downloaded the latest software (4.2) and then after formating the ipod and installing the 4.2 software again, I chose the option to restore from the backup. This did not work. If I unchecked the music and synced, then I did not get the error (however, I did not have any music on the ipod (not very useful). I tried unchecking everything and syncing and then checking each item again and syncing. This did not work. I tried several different combinations of manually chossing the music to sync and so I selected every artist but unchecked every playlist. This did not work. I showed the Comments column and looked for any strange text in the comments like SKIPPED, etc. This was no help. Then I scanned through every song (almost 4,000 songs) looking for any weird characters and this was no luck.

Then... I stumbled on to an idea...

I decided to sort the songs by the "Name" title and then I created a new playlist. I copied the first 1,000 songs from the library into this new playlist. I kept track of the songs I copied "A" - "F" for example. Then, I selected to sync this playlist only. I was able to sync successfully without the error (I only got 1,000 songs though). Then, I removed the 1,000 songs from this playlist and added the next 1,000 songs to the playlist. I was able to sync this set of 1,000 songs. Then, the next 1,000 was successful also. Each group of 1,000 I made sure to empty the playlist out first so that I started with an empty playlist and only synced the 1,000 songs.I was beginning to think I was wasting my time again. Anyway, I tried to sync the last 1,000 songs and low and behold I got the error (yea right I know I have bad luck and the error had to be on the last group of songs). I then documented the list of songs "T" - "Z" for example. Then, I split that list of 1,000 into two groups of 500 songs and you get the picture by now. I deleted all the songs fro mthe playlist and then copied the first 500 songs into the playlist and synced those songs. I did this process over and over and over until I shrunk the list of songs that were failing down to two songs. Yea, I knew I made progress then...

Now, here is the kicker... The two songs that caused the problem were the same song. Then, I realized what had happened. I originally purchased this song from itunes. Then, we liked the song and the band so well, I purchased the actual CD from the store. Then, I deleted the purchased song from itunes and imported the new CD. Then, when I synced my ipod, it told me I had purchased items on the ipod that were not in my library. Unfortunately, it had been a few weeks after purchasing this CD and importing it so I did not remember about deleting this song. I chose to keep the song since I was not sure what purchased item was on my ipod. This caused the exact same song to be in my library twice. itunes had to rename the song (by adding a 1 at the end of the filename) since it was a duplicate filename also. Then, when I synced my ipod again, is when I started getting the 13019 error.

I am not 100% certain that this is what caused the error, but it sure makes me able to sleep at night 😉 after spending the 15 hours (4 evenings). At least I feel like I think I understand what happened.

Sorry for such a long post, but I hope I am able to help out other frustrated ipod\iphone users who are plagued with the 13019 error.

Thank You, sooooooo much!!! I was having the same problem then I

realized, (after reading your comment) that I had done the same thing with already having the song and then importing it from a CD. So i when and deleted the extra song and synced my ipod(s) it worked perfectly!! I found that this error can happen not only with the ipod touch but also with ipod nano and probably with any device that can be synced with itunes! Thanks Again! 🙂

Had the same problem and tried all the various fixes above - don't use voice memos, so that wasn't the issue. Problem didn't go away, though I occasionally got a partial sync of music. Did eventually figure out it had to do with upgrading songs from protected AAC to purchased AAC on iTunes. I think if those songs also existed on the iPod is gave sync indigestion.

Here's my fix:

I unchecked SYNC MUSIC and synced (emptying my iPod). Then I re-checked it BUT unchecked everything in music - all playlists, albums, genres, artists, etc., so that, theoretically nothing should sync. When I hit sync, I watched the activity bar at the top of iTunes carefully an,d it turns out, iTunes still synced one song - though that song did not show up on the iPod and I got the usual warning. And, yes, it was one of the songs I upgraded. So I deleted it from iTunes (easy to add back afterwards thanks to iTunes new Purchased feature) and re-synced. This time is synced my empty music list flawlessly. Turned my playlists, etc. back on, re-synced and haven't had a problem since.

Hope this works for those, who haven't had luck with any of the other solutions yet. And thanks to all those who participate in these problem-solving discussions. It was the idea that it might be a single mangled music file that's causing the problem that let me find this fix.

I'm having the same problem. I have read through all of the comments on how to fix this and none of them have worked. I'm about ready to throw my itouch away. I have turned the computer off, reset the itouch, etc. I have always had my music set to manually add songs onto the itouch. So all of the suggestions have been worthless to help my situation. I have already reset my ipod to factory settings which has caused me to redo my itouch again. I just want the dang thing to work.

With all due respect, please try this. Go into iTunes, under Library, click on music. Next go to File-->Display Duplicates. From here you are on your own. I deleted all of my entries in duplicates. Click on sync and it just work. It was easy for me to pull the trigger since I subscribe to iTunes Match. All of my music is backed up to the iCloud. 🙂
