Error 0xE8000065

OK so I was on 2.2.1 on my iPhone with iTunes 8.1.1 and everything was ok. I updated to 8.2 and updated my iphone to 3.0. At first itunes displayed a message saying my iphone was detected but couldnt be identified properly and said to disconnect and reconnect. I did so and now it says "iTunes could not connect to this iPhone because an unknown error occurred (0xE8000065). And everytime I unplug and reconnect iTunes displays this message, and sometimes it doesnt even recognize my iPhone. My pc recognizes the iPhone as a Camera(??) but iTunes does nothing... I also pluged my 1G iPod Touch and the same message is displayed... Can someone help??

This has been happening to me for a few weeks. Same error. Today after it happened again, I unplugged my lightning cable from one USB port in my computer and put it in a different port.

iTunes opened just fine and went through the backup process flawlessly.

Can't say why this fixed it, but it did.

This Solution helped me.

Ituned would start to Sync, then give me the 13016 Error. then I noticed the MTP USB Device Error. Tried the unsysncing of the music, etc. Went to My Comptuer to backup the Pictures and noticed that iPhone was not there.

My iPhone wasnt recognized by the OS and it gave me an error about “Unable to install MTP USB device”. The fix is to go into the Device Manager, Uninstall the “Unknown MTP device” and scan for hardware changes. Windows 7 enumerated the devices and recognized the iPhone without any issues.

I'm Syncing again...

I have also run into this error resulting from plugging my iPod touch into the usb port on the right side of my m15x. If anyone here uses an Alienware, I've found that plugging your usb connector into the left side usb port solves this problem. I wish i had known this before, it's been over 2 months since I've updated my iPod and spend over an hour on the phone with apple support trying to fix this problem (which they suggested that I uninstall iTunes and then reinstall it...) Apple needs to look into this problem and find a solution for it through an update for iTunes or the iPod itself. (HINT HINT)

----Hope this helps!

I have a Toshiba. Windows 7. (had Vista) I got the error on both OS with my 3g iphone. I just found a really simple fix for it. I went back to my old iphone cord that came with the phone!

I had bought another cord that was longer, apparently it made the error. I noticed it didnt do it all the time when I plugged my phone to my computer. But I just realized it when I read someone else have a post similar to this. it could be as simple as the cord!

I just synced my phone again (for like the 5th attempt today) and the last time I used my old cord, and it worked!!!)

I have been having connection problems for awhile. I have had numerous problems with iTunes, such as lack of backward compatibility. I have had to wipe my 16gb second gen ipod touch over five times because all my applications would fail to load, or i was unable to play any songs. Lately, I cannot sync my iPod due to this particular error. This is very frustrating because I download my content from the iPod, not my computer. I have wasted a good amount of the money I do spend on iTunes products re-purchasing songs that i lost in this manner. Apple needs to get its act together.
