Error 0xE8000065

OK so I was on 2.2.1 on my iPhone with iTunes 8.1.1 and everything was ok. I updated to 8.2 and updated my iphone to 3.0. At first itunes displayed a message saying my iphone was detected but couldnt be identified properly and said to disconnect and reconnect. I did so and now it says "iTunes could not connect to this iPhone because an unknown error occurred (0xE8000065). And everytime I unplug and reconnect iTunes displays this message, and sometimes it doesnt even recognize my iPhone. My pc recognizes the iPhone as a Camera(??) but iTunes does nothing... I also pluged my 1G iPod Touch and the same message is displayed... Can someone help??

This has been happening to me for a few weeks. Same error. Today after it happened again, I unplugged my lightning cable from one USB port in my computer and put it in a different port.

iTunes opened just fine and went through the backup process flawlessly.

Can't say why this fixed it, but it did.

I have this problem too, each time I connect my Ipod 4th gen running iOS 4.2.1 I get this 0xE8000065 error. Sometimes I am lucky and able to connect it... But I've found a solution that works almost everytime. Before connecting your iDevice to the computer, completely shut it off. Then connect it. It should automatically turn on and when it reboots, your device should be connected to iTunes and ready for managing. Good Luck 🙂

After reading the messages on this page I decided to pull out an external USB hub out of my desk drawer and plugged it into my Dell Studio 1747 laptop. Then plugged my Iphone into the hub (that was having the Error OxE8000065 problem). The restore worked wonderfully! Yaaaay! Don't know why it worked but it did! An easy fix after trying all sorts of crazy, intricate steps! sheesh

Since I read this post 20+ times to no avail, I'm going to throw out another possible cause for this error.

Consider the possibility of a software incompatibility/conflict. After two months of trying every strategy listed here, I finally realized that FoxyProxy installed on my HP laptop running Windows 7 was to blame. I uninstalled the program, restarted the computer, and the device connected error-free. I assume it has something to do with the device needing to communicate through certain ports, which the software must prohibit. But this issue is not well-documented on the web, so perhaps others haven't thought about it.

I found this on another forum that might help

I'm runningWindows7 RC with an iPhone 3GS.I have/had a problem where the sync would drop half way through a long sync or iTunes would only sync the first time and then ignore the iPhone. I have the same problem with my iPod nano.

Tonight I got the error 0xe8000065 and started looking around forums. Some of the threads I read suggested it was a diver/usb problem which got me thinking about services.

I changed the compatibility mode for the apple mobiledevice service and ran it as administrator. Everything seems ok now. I have synced my iPhone a few times in succession, synced my nano then synced my iPhone again, no errors lockups or glitches. User uploaded file

Open Task Manager, click "Show processes from all users" and find the AppleMobileDeviceService.exe process. Right clicked on it and choose Properties, then change to the Compatibility tab. Change the compatibility mode to Vista SP2 and tick Run this program as an administrator.

Either restart the service, or if your not sure about that restart your PC.

I hope this helps someone...

Ok everyone.

I'm running the latest version of iTunes on a Mac, which I suppose is it's native environment. I have the latest version of Mac OSX.

My iPod touch 4G froze yesterday so I plugged it in to restore it. iTunes recognised it, so I clicked Restore. I then waited 4 hours for the latest iPod OS to download (argh my slow connection), leaving it overnight. I awoke this morning to find an error, saying it couldn't restore. I looked up the error and found a thread here on Apple Support saying it could be that I don't have the latest version of iTunes or my OS. So I spent all morning downloading both.

So now I have the latest version of EVERYTHING, running on a MAC which puts any Windows 7 problems to rest, and I still get this error.

I would like some support from Apple please...
