Canon MF4150 printing on 10.6

I installed 10.6 on my Imac this afternoon and all looked ok until I tried to print; the system did not recognize my canon mf4150 laser printer. OS X does not have a printer driver but the canon site site had a UFR II driver dated in 8-4-2009 that was good up through v10.5 (this was before v10.6 was released). I downloaded it and when I unpacked it and tried to set it up I keep getting error 9672 (looks like it was seen first in v10.3).

It seems that apple may have changed some file locations for v10.6, is it just a matter of moving some files?

Well, obviously I've got carried away ... the driver allows to print only one page ... the same over and over again 😟
So now, should I throw Snow Leopard? (but my Macbook Pro came with SL only, and I upgraded to SL on my Macbook) Or should I throw my Canon? I think I'll do that instead. What the **** were they thinking about during all this time? Next printer won't be a Canon for sure.

I also have a Windows solution (Virtualbox) on my OSX installation to use my MF4270. But I don't think we can call that a solution. I don't understand that a compagny like Canon doesn't make drivers for products like this (semi-professional) for OSX. The UFRII drivers is stricly the minimum and the scanner is useless with it..

Just do like me, contact Canon and ask them to work on this problem, and never keep us (those non windows users) apart...

Without, I will never buy a canon printer or multifunction anymore.

Since Canon doesn't seem to be taking this issue very seriously, I decided to write an Amazon review for the product, pointing out their lax attitude. Maybe if more people would publicly report about the lack of driver support for both printer and scanner, they would consider paying some attention. I for one am getting tired that I can't even print something as trivial as an envelope.

Here's my review, in case anyone want's to take a look,

This is so frustrating. I'm having the exact same issue with multiple-page PDFs (Duplex) where only the first 1-2 pages are printing and the rest are garbled with grey/black horizontal lines across them. I didn't see this thread and thought it was just me having this issue (with a Canon MF4270 and Snow Leopard).

Canon has the UFRII 2.0 driver officially listed now for my printer too, which is the driver being used. I just spent an hour with Canon Tech Support (Canada) and the guy assured me it wasn't the driver but rather the PDF files I was using, which is utter crap since I have numerous PDF files from various sources, all doing this.

Strangely, I converted a 4-page document (from Pages) into a PDF and that one printed fine. WTH?

Anyhow, after reading this thread I contacted Canon again, and once again I was assured (by a different person this time) that it wasn't the driver. He said it's the program that I'm using to open and print PDF files that's the culprit. I'm not using any programs; just OSX's built-in native support for PDF is all I'm using here.

I requested the matter be escalated, not sure if it'll do any good. I'm just about ready to throw this thing out the window and never buy another Canon printer again.

The problem is not even limited to PDF files only. Try to print from Pages or any other application and the printer freaks out just as badly. I can't even print out something as trivial as an envelope because as soon as the printer has to rotate the printout, it screws up. As soon as there's a table or columns in the text, it screws up. It is practically impossible to print ANYTHING with this driver.

The next time one of the Canon reps tells you it's not the driver, tell them to bring up an empty page, size it as an envelope and put an address on it, then try to print it. It will not work!

As I said before, I think only public pressure will get them to acknowledge the problems which is the reason why I wrote a scathing review on Amazon.com and sent it to them. I think everyone here should do the same thing.

Interesting. I didn't try envelopes.

My father in law has been wanting a printer like this one (he's on Windows so he shouldn't have any issues with drivers) and I'm seriously thinking of just giving him my 4270 and getting something else for us.

Problem is I really like the 4270 (when/if it works) and haven't found something that does the same thing with the same footprint/size. I'm wondering if the Canon driver for SL for the new(er) model of my printer (MF4370) has the same issues. Also at least AFAIK, scanning on a Mac is supported on the 4370, which isn't on mine.

EDIT: I just noticed that the 4370 still uses the UFR II 2.0 driver for SL. Expect the same issues then?

Finally after a long wait !!!! we have the driver for the MF4140 from Canon and with a lot of surprise this f.. drivers don 't work , almost 2 months for a printer driver that is a fully b.....t , we are in 2009 and in Canon they are not able to develop a decent printer driver. It is the end of the story I 'm trying to sell this "fantastic" multifunction printer and for sure I 'll never buy anything from Canon also because you can find anyone to blame because they don't have a decent customer care.

Hi there,

I wanted to say that I, too, am having major problems printing from snow leopard, using the UFR II 2.0 driver to my MF4150 machine from Canon. What is happening in my case is that the printer will usually print the first page of the current print job properly, then, however, it starts mixing up the current print job with snippets of the previous print job--so these two documents end up being jumbled together. This happens regardless of whether I am printing a pdf, a microsoft word document, or an email, and single-sided versus duplexing also makes no difference. So, the printer portion is useless at present. It's really frustrating and disappointing. The canon technical support has essentially said they are not aware of this problem and that it must have to do with my computer somehow rather than the driver. I don't really know what to do. If anyone has found solutions, please let me know. That printer was a big investment for me...
