Seems like I can't really edit any images with iphoto's built in image editing feature. Trying to rotate, remove red eye etc always distorts the image to this:
Someone in another topic mentioned this and don't know if it may apply here: are you booting into 64 bit or 32? If it's 64 try booting into 32 and see if it make any difference.
Misery loves company. Thought we were all alone with this problem of SL 10.6.1 and iPhoto 8.1. iPhoto had been installed for some time and working as expected. SL installed early September: (upgrade? I did not wipe the drive and start over). Using iMac20 with 2GB RAM, Apple generic memory and HD. 20 has been on the bench at the local dealer for a week. All hardware tests come back negative with some reference to anomalies in memory: video or RAM. I have reinstalled iLife'09, repaired permissions, repaired the disk, dumped many GB of files (needed doing anyhow). Dealer says fix is expensive (replace Logic Bd and RAM-Logic bd has video RAM on it) and not guaranteed to remove the problem. Dealer says we are only ones to complain of this. Editing on LSD happens in iPhoto and Aperature.
Am holding out for Apple fix. Can't believe we have all had a logic board melt down at the same time. Will keep checking back for that ray of hope. elf1
Me too. Add me to the list. But, my screen goes black when I try to edit. I have figured out that I can reboot to fix the problem, but then it comes back after a while. I'm currently trying to figure out if it is one of my other programs that I normally use that might be contributing to the problem.
Upgraded from Tiger + iphoto 06 to SL + iPhoto 09.
Now I have the same image editing problem, but can't say whether it's the SL or the iPhoto update that caused it.
Same image distortion using my iMac (2.16 Ghz, 3 Gig memory).
This is definitely an issue Apple needs to fix in iPhoto.
I upgraded to Snow Leopard first. The "old" iPhoto worked fine.
Added iLife 09, new iPhoto not working properly in edit mode. Total distortion exactly as in your link.
So, so far Snow Leopard has "broken" my old Hp all in one (PSC 2110), I can no longer scan, HP says no support for Snow Leopard, so I need to buy a new scanner or third party scan software!
And now, my most often used app, iPhoto is not working properly.
I too am experiencing this bug. Thought it was just me; maybe some faulty RAM or something. Guess Snow Leopard is the culprit. Has Apple even acknowledged this error?
What do you guys mean by 16 bit vs 32 bit? The color depth? Checked my display settings and didn't see how to adjust. Maybe because I'm on an older Intel Mac I can't boot in 64 bit?
Don't you mean 32 vs 64 bit. That's referring to booting into 32 or 64 bit mode with Snow Leopard. You can easily switch between the two by using the *+32- or 64-bit Kernel Startup Mode Selecto+r* application. Download it from VersionTracker.com.
