When will i5 and i7 Quad Core iMacs actually be shipped?

I ordered the new iMac 27" Quad Core i7 yesterday. I am so excited to start using it in place of my iMac G5. My order says it will be shipped in "November" but the new optional Apple Remote is showing as being shipped "November 23" (is that a hint?) Does anyone have a clearer understanding of the likely ship date for the Quad Care iMacs. I am guessing that the delay is due to Apple not yet having a supply of these particular i5 & i7 Intel chips, are they being used currently in any other Macs? I don't think so. If you have any thoughts/info, I'd love to here from you.

Roger, you are correct. You are not the forum police here; and unless you wear a badge which clear states that you are an authorized Apple forum moderator, I suggest that you refrain from imposing your will on others here -- including on me.

Over the past several weeks there has been plenty of speculation in these forums regarding what is going on behind the scenes concerning all of the current iMac problems. Like many others here, I have responded to comments, and posed my own questions as well.

Who are you to publicly single me out and chastise me in this manner?

I have been a dedicated Macintosh user for twenty years come this Spring. I have spent thousands and thousands of dollars on Macintosh computers and Macintosh software. That being the case, I have every right to question what is going on, just like everyone else here.

Thanks!

As a reseller, of course I'm going to say not to cancel your order just to get it direct from Apple, if you can wait, support the local reseller.
I had my one customer call apple who assured him it will ship from apple in 2 weeks, this seem sto be thier plan, don't give stock to the resellers, make them look bad and sell direct.
He then asked why his order,(which he is keeping active even after I offered a full refund) from an authorised reseller would be such heavy delays. 'we are not responsible for resellers stock levels'
I love apple, but I feel I'm getting royaly screwed here. Even my order of new apple remotes now says mid Jan, when apple have 'ships in 24hours'

I'm loosing business and credability as I cannot get stock from a company that offers minimal wait time direct.

Will update here when I receive shipping notice or another ETA Change.

The local Apple store seems to be carrying the quad cores in stock, so why not the resellers??

Hi Richard
I am buying through a reseller,
I ordered in early November and am still waiting.
I understand its not my resellers fault,
and I can also see what Apple is trying to do i.e Snub resellers so u buy direct,(and man their really doing a REALLY good job as well)
Im getting a decent deal from my local reseller, and I dont want to cancel the order, but man is it hard to sit around while my business loses out and its slowly starting to cost me more and more in jobs as each day passes, Which is almost equalling the discount i get through EEP.

Ive thought about buying a 21.5 inch in the meantime (direct from Apple)
but then, why should I have to?
Ive paid 3k for a something Ive had 2 wait over a month for, and have no idea of when ill eventually get it!!!

Its gone beyond a joke and everyday that passes, I lose out.

*WHEN INDEED WILL THE I5 & I7 QUAD CORE IMACS ACTUALLY BE SHIPPED !!!!!*

If their is delays with the iMac parts or whatever, why then did they have a Black Friday sale (knowing that these models are gonna fly out the door, and Why are people who order direct getting theirs already, And why have Authorised Apple Resellers in the first place if your not going to supply them with products they authorise them to sell??!!!

Well Played Apple. You truly know how to run people out of business i.e Resellers, Me, Others...
In the meantime, People will continue to Hack Dell
mini9's and Jailbreak iPhones for $$$ and not feel guilty about it.

Hi,

This is my problem. I placed my order through an authorised apple reseller here in Sydney on 23rd October and am still waiting. I was informed that all resellers should be getting the items they ordered around mid to late January. I am frustrated as I had to pay _**$3k + upfront**_ and am out of pocket because of how Apple are treating their resellers.

I called the Applestore yesterday and they said they can get me one within 1-2 weeks (before Christmas). I asked them why are resellers getting their orders processed late, they replied, Apple treats their direct customers with priority.

Isn't Authorised Apple Resellers direct customers themselves????????

My 5 year old mac mini is on the blink of breaking down and I have to wait *3 WHOLE MONTHS WHICH I PAID IN FULL to get a computer*, where others have ordered theirs after mine online and already have them in mid November!!!!

The reseller is giving me $100 gift card to make up for the delay, but that does not equate to the interest I'm paying on my credit card where I don't have the computer!!!

I was told there are shortages with the graphics card, magic mouse, screen problems etc... but why does Apple online have these readily available with a 2 week wait.

For all your people out their waiting for your iMacs through a reseller - get the reseller to give you the order number and you can track the progress of it online. I have been checking mine religiously daily and it still says "items will be shipped when all items are available". It also stipulates the order was placed in October.

Just to clarify, the black Friday deals did not include the i5 and i7 iMacs, I checked to make sure as I was going to cancel my order with the reseller if that was the case. The problem is that I'm getting a really good price with the reseller, where Apple direct on the phone couldn't believe the price I got for my i7 and the quote I got for a time capsule. They couldn't even match the price, so I'm better off waiting 3 months!! (I keep repeating myself with the 3 month wait!!)

I'm in the same dilemma, do I cancel and order online or *wait 3 MONTHS* for something I really need now.

Do any of you have Time Capsule? If so, is it worth it as I am planning on getting one when I pick up my new iMac (if it comes!!!)

Good luck everyone. Make sure you keep me posted with the progress of your orders.

i have just withdrawn my order with them and is really unsure weather i should order the iMAC i7 online. & just for the record... this is my 1st ever MAC experience... so far not good.

anyways...if i ordered today... does that mean i will be affected by the parts shortage & won't get it till January??? Apple site states 7-10 to ship....???

If thats the case... i'm gonna hafta go back to PC...

It's a shame you have experienced this. I have been a mac users for over 10 years and have never come across this problem. The problem is going through a reseller and not direct with Apple.

You should be okay as they have ironed out all the problems I believe and you should get your i7 before Christmas if you're lucky.

Don't let this experience turn you off from a mac, you will really love it. I'm frustrated too, waiting 3 months, hoping to play around with it during the holidays. Now I will get it when I'm back at work!!!!

Also another thing to consider, iMacs are generally updated every 6-8 months, so I'm not happy that 3 months of this time has been taken up before I get my computer. I'm thinking, should I wait to April next year and get the updated model with no problems, considering I have to wait until January.

I have an order number starting with w5756...

Does that mean anything because i know some ppl have said it relates to when the machine is/will be built.

And also its shipping method is Road. Does that mean someones gonna drive it over from china on their flying car?

That's the one. Mine starts with W5745. Yeah mine says by road too. It will take forever!!!

I have been following this topic for a while now and just wanted to add my info to it. I ordered my iMac i7 from the Online Apple Store on November 27 at 7:20 pm. I live in France and had to change the keyboard from a French to English so my order was considered a customized order. My original ship date was the 11th of December with a delivery date of the 17th.

I got a notification today (the 9th) that it has shipped and I should get it on the 16th.

Can't wait.

Joey

PS: BTW last year around the same time I ordered a Dell Mini 9 netbook (I am sure you all know why, lol) and Dell because of overwhelming demand delayed my shipment for two months. My point is that when you are ordering the new, hot gadget this seems to always happen, regardless of the company or product.

When will i5 and i7 Quad Core iMacs actually be shipped?
