iTunes Error 42408 After 9.03 Upgrade

I am receiving the error 42408 after upgrading to 9.03. Google did not yield any results. The error appears attempting to authorize my Powerbook.

PowerBook G4, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Thanks Bludo, had same issue after upg to iTunes 9.0.3. n(see below)
Running Win 7 and found files on ipod in pod_Control\iTunes folder.
Moved these as you instructed and I found error gone & it was working again.
GOOD JOB!
ISSUE:
every time it (itunes) starts I get an authorization error.
Telling me I will not be allowed to sync songs I have purchased because the computer is not authorized.
OK - So I try to authorize OR deauthorize and I get the error:
----------------------------------------------------------------
We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An
inknown error occurred (-42408)

There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later.

Note also tried removal of SC folder and toggle UAC. But did not work.

[sigh] Bloody Apple. They clearly want to become an entertainment one-stop-shop, but when crap like this keeps screwing up everybody's purchases it ain't gonna happen. Their current DRM-obsessed experiment with Mini DisplayPort is doomed to screw up everyone's viewing pleasure too. I'm sick of this bloody company - and just a year ago I wouldn't hear a bad word said about them!

Anyway, back to the topic in hand. Trashing the SC Info folder worked for me but only when I did it after ejecting the iPod (doesn't say anything about this step in the article).

Well the 42408 returned just the other day, after days and days of no issues, connecting my iPod just fine, and then suddenly yesterday the error returned.

I will open another support ticket with Apple, the only way to really get the problem logged with them.

But after this massive screw up on the part of Apple and the 9.03 upgrade, it will be a long time before I purchase anything from iTunes for a very long time, if ever.

I received these instructions from Apple rep. They work UNTIL the computer is rebooted, then it is back to -42408 error.

I repeat THIS DID NOT WORK FOR ME:

To resolve this, I recommend getting rid of the SC folder and then uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. Before beginning, please back up your iTunes library as explained here:

How to back up your media in iTunes

To uninstall iTunes, please follow the steps in this article:

Removing iTunes for Mac OS X
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1224

After you've uninstalled iTunes and removed the related files, you will need to reinstall it. You can download the latest version free of charge from the iTunes website:

After you've reinstalled iTunes, please ensure you have the latest version of QuickTime installed. You can find the latest version here:

If you continue to experience difficulties with iTunes after uninstalling and reinstalling it, you may wish to call our AppleCare technical support team. A representative will be able to tell you about Apple's complimentary and fee-based support options and can help you determine which option might be most helpful in this case. I repeat ABOVE DID NOT WORK FOR ME.
