iTunes Error 42408 After 9.03 Upgrade

I am receiving the error 42408 after upgrading to 9.03. Google did not yield any results. The error appears attempting to authorize my Powerbook.

PowerBook G4, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Neither playing one of the protected tunes nor removing the SC Info folder (which was empty) worked for me.
I have tunes on my iPod (Mini) that are playable there, but can't be played on my iMac DESPITE having sync-ed them onto the iPod from the iMac after resetting the iPod from the iTunes window on the iMac. And my iPod software is up to date.
Bizarre or what?
What's the answer, Apple?

I didn't mention that the problem also prevented me from buying new music - a useless business model!
Further update : I still had 100 "problems" which turned out to be tracks I had purchased under another account name (change of e-mail address). These now authorised, apparently onto 2 computers (ie accounts???) though I have only one machine.
What a mess !!!

So this error message just appeared today on my computer when it told me to authorize my computer again. found it odd since this is the only computer use for my ipod. in any case i went a head and tried the two suggestions. tried the SC info folder couldn't find it on my computer so i went to the next one. the first option. tried that and some how while trying to connect it, my ipod just died. it shows the little apple icon but that is all. i tried to reboot but it just goes black??? have no clue what to do anymore pout just wondering if this has only happened to me the ipod part that is while trying to fix the problem.

hope everyone else is having better luck!

I'm getting the same problem rendering a **** of a lot of tracks unplayable. I deauthorised all machines and then reauthorised the one I'm using, worked for a bit but now having the issue again. It appears to be hit and miss as it was fine again last night, but come this morning I'm without alot of tracks again.

This is extremely annoying. Any word on what the issue is here and when it will be fixed?

My iTunes launched from the Dock said 9.0.3, yet I still had the same problem.

One thing I noticed on my computer inside Keychain Access . . .

Launch your Keychain app, search "iTunes" for the "iTunes Store password" and double click to open.

My "Access Control" section had TWO entries for iTunes. I removed them both and relaunched iTunes.

No more problem. I can't say if this is a transient fix yet.

OK, I have fixed it here. Here's what I did:
quit iTunes
trashed ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iTunes.plist
started iTunes, and authorised my account

Worked straight away after that !

I did this preference trash this morning and it worked for me. Will see if it's still ok when I get check again tonight...

Hello all,

If you are experiencing the -42408 error syncing with a iPod or iPhone after updating to iTunes 9.0.3, please try these steps:

1. Eject and disconnect the iPod/iPhone from the computer.
2. Open iTunes.
3. Find a protected song from the iTunes Store (Kind = Protected AAC audio file) in your library.
4. Play the song.
5. Connect your iPod/iPhone.

Do you still get the error? If so, try these steps:

1. Carefully follow the steps in the "Remove the SC Info folder" section of this Knowledge Base document: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1389
2. Re-authorize your computer: Store menu > Authorize Computer...
3. Sync your iPod or iPhone.

Do you still get the error?

Please report your results back here, and if one of my suggestions helped, let me know which one.

Thanks,
Roy

I thought by trashing preferences had worked, but come this morning, most of my purchased music was unauthorised and got the error again.

So I tried the above option 1 and it worked. So this is an iPod/iPhone issue with this version of iTunes then? It's pretty annoying if you have to do this everything you want to sync up your device if so!
