iTunes Error 42408 After 9.03 Upgrade

I am receiving the error 42408 after upgrading to 9.03. Google did not yield any results. The error appears attempting to authorize my Powerbook.

PowerBook G4, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

I am having the exact same problem on my 1.5Ghz Powerbook G4. When I try to sync my iPod Nano 2G, iTunes says my computer isn't authorized to play the music I have downloaded from the iTunes store and asks me to log in to authorize it. Once I log in, an error box pops up saying, "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (-42408)."

@ae_8691 THANK YOU! This solved the issue for me too. Glad I came across your post, I couldn't play any of my protected files. Just kept saying I needed to authorize, but then after enter the account info it said already authorized...and it wouldn't let me deauthorize the computer so I could attempt to reauthorize it.

Anyway, thanks again!

Roy, You are the man! The "Remove the SC Info folder" suggestion worked. After restarting the machine all my music, tv shows, and movies worked! I didn't even have to reauthorize. I was really getting frustrated all day because I am a designer and need my tunes. LOL I was starting to think (dare I say it) that Apple was turning into Microsoft and leaving their users with their cheese in the wind.
Thanks again buddy!

okay i dont have an issue with my iPod or iPhone, my issue is i've downloaded two albums and they all fail on me saying "There was a problem downloading "blah blah blah" An unknown error occurred
(-42408) so I quit iTunes, opened it again and tried to re download the tracks, they're gone. the iTunes store says i already downloaded them and all my downloads are complete. I clicked Buy Album again and tried to do it again thinking something went wrong the 1st time. Same error occurred. Now i'm out two albums + one extra download of the album again.

iTunes wont let me de authorize my computer and says my log in and pass are invalid.

Apple solved this problem for me - I sent them the issue via email interface after following their iTunes support path outside this discussion. They deauthorized all my accounts at the iTunes store on their end, and then I was able to authorize without an issue.

Please note this worked for me after none of the other solutions discussed in this topic worked. If the preferences/SC folder method doesn't work for you, send Apple an email.

I followed your first instructions and it worked once - Eject/disconnect iPod, quit iTunes, restart iTunes and played the music w/o the iPod connected. Then I connected the iPod again, restarted iTunes, and it still has the problem. Did this all again, and it just gives keeps asking for my password to authorize it again. I can't quite get a consistent problem going here. It varies a lot. But it all relates to this authorizing problem. (although I haven't yet seen that Error 42408 today....yet)

I removed that SC Info folder, but it didn't seem to help either.

Anybody else have other suggestions? This is really quite frustrating.

I have an old 4th Gen Ipod that experienced this problem. For the sake of troubleshooting. I had NOT launched 9.0.3 since the software update. I plugged the ipod into my mac and Itunes launched, showing me the EULA. After accepting the EULA I got the message that some of the songs weren't authorized. I attempted to authorize and got he 42408 error. After disconnecting the iPod I was still unable to authorize and media would not play.

Following suggestion number one worked for me with one addition. After disconnecting my ipod I had to completely exit iTunes and start it back up. I then played protected media (which worked without needing to authorize), reconnected the iPod and all was well.
