iTunes Error 42408 After 9.03 Upgrade

I am receiving the error 42408 after upgrading to 9.03. Google did not yield any results. The error appears attempting to authorize my Powerbook.

PowerBook G4, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

I had the same problem. Check the version of iTunes via the About dialog. Mine said 9.0.2 despite having upgraded via system updates, itunes and even downloading the whole package again.

Turns out, the dock iTunes link is running the old one. Basically, remove it from the dock, and re-drag the itunes from the applications folder back onto the dock. This then started 9.0.3 for me, and my iTunes account worked, the itunes store worked and iphone sync worked as well. Phew.

Check the bottom of this page for my reference http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2311

Thanks so much - that worked for me.

Tried all these "fixes". Problem persists.

Weirdly, it only applies to apparently random tracks from among the many that I have purchased from itunes. Of two different tracks purchased in a single transaction, one works, the other doesn't.

Have emailed Apple/iTunes about it.

How hard can it be to debug these updates before imposing them on millions of users?

I went one step further...

I was about to follow Roy's procedure for removing the SC Info folder as described in section of this Knowledge Base document: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1389

In this section you are supposed to delete the SC Info folder located in the following location:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\

This is when it occurred to me that I don't have a "All Users" folder but instead "All Users.WINDOWS". I then created a "All Users" folder and rebuilt a similar directory structure and copy the content from SC Info folder to the new folder. Restarted iTunes and it worked just fine.

My computer started giving me the same error last night when I updated to 9.03. I followed the suggestion to delete the icon and replace it with the icon from the App folder. (I did this). Then I deauthorized and reauthorized the computer. (This worked). Then I sync'd my ipod. (Now, this worked too). Went to bed. Woke up this morning and cold booted my iMac (with the ipod already plugges in). Guess what. I started getting the same 42408 error message all over again. Has this happened to anyone and if so, do you have any suggestions on what to do to fix it?

Thanks!

Update: I redeleted the icon and re-replaced it with the icon from the App folder. Deauthorized and then reauthorized the computer. Works fine. Syncs fine. Unplugged the ipod. Cold booted. iTunes and the ipod sync worked fine. Left the ipod plugged in and rebooted. Then, I got the same error message again when I rebooted it. Looks like you can't leave you ipod plugged in when you reboot the computer. Anyone have a similar experience?

Hey folks, was receiving the same error and fixed it. I simply deleted the itunes icon from desktop, went into itunes folder found itunes app file, and made a new shortcut on desktop which fixed the problem. I had tried all the other recommendations, but to no avail. Im not sure how macs address icons on the i guess desktop, but for windows users this fixed the problem.
