iTunes Error 42408 After 9.03 Upgrade

I am receiving the error 42408 after upgrading to 9.03. Google did not yield any results. The error appears attempting to authorize my Powerbook.

PowerBook G4, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Hello all,

If you are experiencing the -42408 error syncing with a iPod or iPhone after updating to iTunes 9.0.3, please try these steps:

1. Eject and disconnect the iPod/iPhone from the computer.
2. Open iTunes.
3. Find a protected song from the iTunes Store (Kind = Protected AAC audio file) in your library.
4. Play the song.
5. Connect your iPod/iPhone.

Do you still get the error? If so, try these steps:

1. Carefully follow the steps in the "Remove the SC Info folder" section of this Knowledge Base document: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1389
2. Re-authorize your computer: Store menu > Authorize Computer...
3. Sync your iPod or iPhone.

Do you still get the error?

Please report your results back here, and if one of my suggestions helped, let me know which one.

Thanks,
Roy

Tried both suggestions to no avail. I continue to get message asking me to sign in and authorize the account. I do that, get the message that this machine is authorized, and then immediately get the request to authorize again.

For me, too, neither solution has fixed the problem. Deleting the SC Folder started a whole process that required extensive reloading of my library (creating hundreds of duplicate files and deauthorizing a video that I had copied from digital video... and I don't have the code any more!). I hope Apple tech support is reading this and is working on a real solution.

I had the same issue with iTunes ver 9.0.3. I also could not purchase music from the iTunes store. What I discovered is that the automatic prompt to upgrade iTunes was giving me this problems. I had to go to the Apple iTunes page and download ver 9.0.3. Now I can access my purchased music, buy new music and I do not have that authorize/deauthorize prompt. Hope this helps.

I've tried every suggestion in this thread with no luck. It keeps bring up an old Apple ID that no longer exists. I've deauthorized and authorized with my current Apple ID, but when the error pops up it still has the old ID. I finally sent a feedback email to Apple.

This is by far the worst problem I've ever had with a software upgrade. Ugggh!

I was having the same problem with the -42408 error. Quite frustrating as some of these purchases are many years old.

I tried all of the different options that everyone has suggestioned with still no luck.

On a whim, I decided to make a change to my Preferences and save them, close iTunes and reopen it and...voila...I was able to listen to my purchased music again! Thrilled to say the least.

I thought I'd share this suggestion with the hopes that it may help someone else.
