Anyone who has installed the new update (3.1.3): any issues with it?

Just wondering how "safe" the new update is. Please report your experience with 3.1.3

I installed iTunes update 9.0.3 and iPod Touch update 3.1.3 this week and the problem with the "top 25 played" playlist still persists!

My rather random solution was to create a new Smart Playlist, titled "Top 30" and in the dialogue box, tick 'match following rule", "play count is greater than xxx" - you will need to insert whatever play count will establish a top 30 - tick "limit to 30 items most often played", tick "live updating".

This works.

Ok, I found the problem with syncing (in my case). If smart list contains expression 'Genre = ....' then smartlist isn't shown in playlist on ipod. I workaround it by creating separate smartlist with corresponding genre, and pointed in smartlist that is synced to Touch 'Playlist = newly-created-playlist' (in my case this is classic music)

I should have added in my previous post that when syncing my Nano (fall 2008) I get a mirror image of the playlists in iTunes on My Mac, just as it should be.
Just why, in my case, the "Top 25 Played" playlist should return 25 tracks some of which have only ever been played once, is beyond me! From now on I'll just use my custom "top 30 played" playlist and delete the TOP 25 one.

Incidentally, since upgrading to 9.0.3 and 3.1.3, the album artwork on the iPod touch is all over the place. Anybody else got this problem?

well when i downloaded it on win XP it wiped my ipod and didnt restore it.
apparently that was because i wasnt on a mac or i hadnt got the newest itunes update. probably the latter.
but i lost all my game saves data...... 😟

IMPORTANT.
i just read some of the posts above me and i had the same problem

i would recommend getting the NEWEST version of itunes and if you can , sync it with a mac.

worked for me when my PC which didnt have the latest version of itunes decided to stop my ipod from being able to restore and update.....

iPod touch 1G users, BEWARE of 3.1.3. This version breaks integration with my Sony/iPod integrated head unit, same as other users are also seeing with other iPod integrated head units. The touch 1G running 3.1.3 can no longer be controlled by the head unit itself (play, pause, skip tracks, etc). The head unit will still however power/charge the touch but all playback control integration is broken. All previous versions up to 3.1.2 work just fine with the same head unit.

I have backdated from 3.1.3 down to 3.1.2 and this corrects the issue. Looks like Apple has now crippled the 1G running 3.1.3 to the same level that the 2Gs & 3Gs are crippled in this respect as well. This is also the main reason why I have not purchased a 2G/3G touch. It looks as if I'll stay at 3.1.2 until I hear word that an "update" will not cripple what worked just fine in the past...

Not sure where you're downloading from but I use personal firmware update backups that I always make when downloading the firmware prior to updating.

There are also certain other steps involved (which I cannot recall 100% in their entirety) so that iTunes will use the previous version rather than the latest version (Shift-clicking at the update prompt and then browsing to the file to be used). Searching via Google will result in plenty of detailed explanations of how to do it.

Sorry I could not be more specific as it's something I really don't do very often.
