Hyperlinking not supported in mobile version of Keynote

Apparently, hyperlinking (turning an object or text into a link to a URL or another slide) isn't supported in the iPad version of Keynote.

Any one have an idea on if it will be added in the future? Or, is there something in Apple's development rules that would prevent Apple from adding this in a future update?

Unfortunately, this is one of the reasons I bought the iPad... for creating interactive displays via Keynote, thinking such a basic function would be included in the mobile version of Keynote.

I, like many of you that have posted before me, also created an interactive presentation beforehand with hyperlinks to different slides in keynote, thus taking advantage of what seemed to be the most obvious benefit if having a touch-screen presentation. I found myself extremely annoyed yesterday upon determining that this feature was not included. Hopefully a little more whining will get a software update into action.

We are specialized in Business presentation services (www.sliderescue.com) and have customers we promised adaptation of their PPT presentations to iPad... it is really a shame we cannot implement a simple home slide with links to the different chapters (slides #) of the presentation.

We will create 6 presentations (one per chapter) and use the Keynote menu as chapter selector. Not the nicest way to do but at least we can propose something to our client.

Apple team, please add this CRUCIAL feature asap.

Cheers.

I too wish the iPad app had more functionality from the full version. I was hoping the links to various slides in my presentations would transfer, but they didn't. I also tried to create buttons, links, etc within the app but couldn't find any option to enable links to other slides within the same presentation.

Just a thought, but could this have been omitted since using links such as this enables you to use a Keynote presentation as a pseudo application?

QuickTime does not work on iPad, good idea though. Apple we need hyperlinks to work on iPad keynote please, asap. We loved the keynote idea on iPad and our firm bought 5 ipads because of keynote. We modeled a keynote sales presentation on our macs executing them to work on the iPad. We created a beautiful navigation bar at the bottom of the keynote so we could custom deliver the slides based in the customer type. Great idea by our marketing team, but iPad keynote does not support this basic feature.

Beautiful job on keynote iPad, we just need this feature asap.....please.

Looks liking exporting mac keynote to a PDF with hyperlinks might work, but the formatting seems to require work?

Just to chime in on this as well. I am working with a start up and they want to buy 20 iPads to both train their sales people and present to clients. The option to have a selective TOC with in presentation hyperlinks is a deal breaker. Apple please update keynote to support in slide hyperlinks, it will make using the iPad as a sales/training tool 1000% better.

I don't care if the hyperlinks don't work to launch a website, but I use the heck out of hyperlinking to jump to other sides. I would REALLY like to see this get put back in. Its a key component to how I do my Keynote presentations now.

Likewise. This is the sole reason I bought Keynote for the iPad, indeed a primary reason for buying the iPad itself. Without the ability to link to specific slides and hence utilise a menu structure I simply can't use it for my existing presentations as they are all based on options made during a presentation.

I was under the impression that this could be used to play presentations created with the desktop app but having stripped out all my hyperlinks the presentation is next to useless!

Has anyone else tried this?

Eh?? And what do you think Keynote is then if not an app to run a presentation? LOL!

Or what about creating an interactive pdf in adobe indesign? The presentation would include hyperlinks, similar to any digital magizine on the ipad. CS5 might even be introducing new features specifically for making interactive documents for the ipad!

Though this could produce simular results, cool transitions and simple "usablility"would be lost by not using Keynote.

What are the best pdf programs for the ipad?

Well that is the problem! Keynote is not the solution! I totally agree that Apple should focus on updating Keynote to become a capable presentation tool, however, i cannot wait for them. My job, as well as many others' in this thread requires an interactive presentation, period. I am simply trying to figure out the best way to deliver the solution until Apple cleas up the mess that is called Keynote.

What you can do is to get the *Good Reader* and change your Presentation to a PDF.
The GoodReader keeps the hyperlinks!
Problem is, that you can not ad Videos or link to other PDF outside the actual one.

Where should we knock at the door to get the Hyperlinks in Keynote?
For Buisenes/Selling/Explanation use that is elementary also for me!

Hi Jonnyg113, did you have any luck in your search or development? I to would like to run a presentation as an interactive slideshow slash presentation, ideally locked so you can't exit the slideshow without a password, as I want it to be in a public area. How easy would it be then to make interactive displays inhouse? cool
