Security code is invalid. iTunes for iTouch.

Due to an issue with my computer, I am forced to buy my songs from my iPod Touch. But when I try to purchase new songs, I get a message saying I need to enter my billing info and it takes me to a screen that says I need to insert my security code, and when I do, it says the number I put in is invalid.

I'm having the same problem, and the same frustration. I contacted my credit card company. They had a record that iTunes had made a one-dollar authorization request and that the credit card company had approved it.


I believe that this proves that the bug is on Apple's side.


I have tried repeatedly to get thel helpdesk to admit the possibility that iTunes has a bug, without luck.


Workaround: Change the payment method to PayPal. Then go to PayPal and fish around for the iTunes debit authorization and change the secondary payment source to the credit card you want. Fortunately, PayPal can successfully handle credit card transactions.

Everybody who has this problem, it's because you don't have enough money in your account. Even for the free apps iTunes/App Store still counts it as a purchase. Build up the balance in your bank account until you're out of the hole and have paid off any outstanding transactions to Apple that might not have gone through before. Then your GG.

You guys, after 4 months I finally found what was wrong with mine.


After 18 emails with Itunes and many different attempts my problem was that my address at itunes and at appleid.apple.com was not the same as the one my credit card company has (instead of apartment 501 at this link it was 301).


I will post other attempts for all to try because I think everyone could have a different problem.

Marina, to resolve this issue, please reset your iTunes account's password.


You can simply reset it via Apple's iForgot website at:


http://iforgot.apple.com


After reseting the password please see if it works, if you still get the same error please sync your device to your computer and follow the steps below:


Please delete the credit card information from your account:


1) Open iTunes and sign in to the iTunes Store.

2) Select "View My Account" from the Store menu.

3) Enter your password and click the View Account button.

4) Click the Edit Payment Information button.

5) Select "None" as the payment type.

6) Click the Done button at the bottom of the page.


After you select the "None" option, please attempt to download a free App from iTunes Store. Then sign out from your account and sign in back and re-add your credit card information.


Please follow these steps to confirm or update your account's information:


1) Go to the My Apple ID site at:


http://appleid.apple.com/


2) If the site is not displayed in your preferred language, click the Change Language link in the upper-right corner, type the name of your language in the field that appears, then click the Save button.


3) Click the "Manage your account" link.


4) Type your iTunes Store account name (which is your Apple ID) in the Apple ID field, type your password in the password field, then click the Sign In button.


5) Click "Addresses" in the left column.


6) Confirm or edit your information.


7) Click "Phone Numbers" on the left. Make sure the area codes and phone numbers are entered correctly in their respective fields.


8) Click Save Changes.


Once your information is updated, try placing an order on the iTunes Store again.

HOW TO ADD A CREDIT CARD TO AN iTUNES STORE ACCOUNT


1) Make sure you're using the latest version of iTunes. It can be downloaded free of charge:

Note: Installing the latest version of iTunes will not affect your library or any items in your account that you haven't downloaded.


2) Click this link: http://phobos.apple.com/accountSummary


3) When you see the iTunes sign-in dialog, enter your account name and password and then click the Account Info button.


4) On the Apple Account Information page, click Edit Payment Information.


5) Enter the credit card number and select the credit card type.


6) Look at your billing address. It should be exactly the same as the address on your credit card statement. This is important, because even differences in punctuation, abbreviation, and capitalization can cause payment errors that might prevent you from using the iTunes Store.


7) Select the box indicating that the new credit card will be used to pay the unpaid balance.


8) When all of the information is up to date, click Done, and then click Done again.


When you update your billing information, the iTunes Store places an authorization hold on your credit card to verify your account information. You might see this authorization request on your online statement. This is not an actual charge; it is simply a test to confirm that your credit card account is active and has credit available to accommodate transactions.


Your financial institution will remove the authorization request automatically. The amount of time it takes to remove authorization requests varies by financial institution. If you have any questions about the way your financial institution handles authorization requests, please contact their customer-service department.

Many such issues have resolved after contacting the bank.


Your billing address should be exactly the same as the address on your credit card statement and with the United States Postal Service (click "Find a ZIP Code" at http://www.usps.com and follow the onscreen instructions). This is important, because even differences in punctuation, abbreviation, and capitalization can cause payment errors that might prevent you from using the iTunes Store.


I request you to please follow these steps with your bank or credit card company to troubleshoot the issue:

1. Contact your bank or credit card company and ask to speak with the fraud/security department.


2. Tell the representative that your security code is being rejected. Ask them to review your account to see what might be preventing you from using the card to purchase from the iTunes Store. Ensure that they thoroughly review your account until they locate and resolve what is causing the issue.


3. The bank or credit card company will need to remove any holds on your account. The bank or credit card company could also bypass the authorization process.


Once the bank has resolved your issue, the card should work with the iTunes Store.

ok, well apple would't ******* fix it, so, i had to make a list off all the apps that i bought, and downloaded them off of appcake (installous doesn't work anymore) made a new itunes account and got the free ones off of there... i was willing to pay for all of my apps, but if apple wants to play hard ball, and not fix there ******* problems, well then i guess i will get my apps elsewhere FYI: this proccess involves jailbreaking
