Security code is invalid. iTunes for iTouch.

Due to an issue with my computer, I am forced to buy my songs from my iPod Touch. But when I try to purchase new songs, I get a message saying I need to enter my billing info and it takes me to a screen that says I need to insert my security code, and when I do, it says the number I put in is invalid.

Greetings from sunny Westlake Village, CA.

Ok I have not read all the answers so if I am repeating one I am sorry. The ones I have read are over-reactions. It is probably NOT the security code that is tripping you up since that is the simplest thing you have in your account. If you are getting the message that you have entered the incorrect security code don't panic and try following possible fixes:

1. First make sure that your billing address and phone number are correct - that is they match what the credit card company has - TO THE LETTER AND SPACING. To make sure I suggest calling your credit card company's 800 number and ask them to confirm your EXACT billing address and PHONE NUMBER (once you've verified you are who you say you are of course.)

If that does not work:

2. Make sure the expiration date is correct. If Apple has it as 4/2013 but the exp. date on the card is the last day of March adjust it on Apple so that it is 3/2013 - not 4.

If you do the preceding you will probably find that there will no longer be a problem with your "security code."

"Exclusively?"

To quote good old Inigo Montoya: "I don't think that word means what you think it means." Two posts above yours I clearly stated that my DEBIT card worked fine and it was my CREDIT card that had the problem. Clearly there is some other cause of the problem. Soution appears to be consistant, though: change it to something else and change it back.

I just got this issue about 6 mins ago and tried to see if I can get some help on here and I was getting really mad. Then I realized that I entered the last number of my security code wrong lol but I remember that last time I just keep hitting Done over and they let me downloaded my app on my ipad 2. If that does not work for you, try to go on a comp. and edit your info. there or get help from the genius bar.

P.S They are not really geniuses lol they mostly ask you what is wrong and then replace with a new one. It's just seem technical when they Diagnose the device lol thats what I mostly see they do. But MAYBE Just maybe they can help you with it. Goodluck

This happened to me once.

I DO have it linked to my debit card an it was happening because iTunes was trying to take more money out of my account than was available. Did any of you check to see what your available balance was? It would have been much easier if I had a reciept to look at because I was double charged for all of my purchases BUT they don't send a reciept out until the charge has gone through. So, the MAIN cause of this is INSUFFICIENT FUNDS. Once the money was added to my account and it went through, I "updated" my card info with the exact same info that was there and it worked again. Hope that helps some of you, but I have NO IDEA why its happening to AMEX. Don't they have an unlimited balance? I would call AMEX if that is the card you are having the issue with.

Good luck everyone!

Nope, don't think so. Again, the only time it happens (4 times now total) to me is when there are insufficient funds to pay for the iTunes Store balance. That's the problem with one click, they don't always take it immediately and your balance can skyrocket without you noticing. But, back to your question, I am still running the latest release of Leopard. Haven't bought Snow Leopard let alone Lion yet and do not have this issue (except as stated above).

I'm confused about changing cards not working unless they both do not have enough credit or funds available to cover the balance due so I am going to post a tip that Apple gave me the first time it happened to me. AGAIN, the cause was INSUFFICIENT FUNDS for me each and every time, BUT they said sometimes the system goes haywire and there is a simple fix.

TURN OFF ONE CLICK PURCHASING. Make a free purchase by adding it to your cart. After that purchase completes, Turn One click back on. It should solve the problem if your issue IS NOT insufficient funds. Other than that, I am all out of ideas. Good luck everyone!
