UK Pre-order - "Shipped By" or "Delivered By"??

So, I pre-ordered my iPad, an O2 micro-sim and a case at 12.22am on the 10th May.

I notice my order status says "Estimated shipping by May 28th", so I phoned Apple to enquire as to whether I could expect delivery on the 28th.

The rep told me that some orders show "estimated delivery by May 28th" and some show "estimated shipping by May 28th"

Now, if it means they're not going to ship my iPad before the 28th..then I'm not too pleased!!

So the question is...does anyone in the UK's order status say "delivered by May 28th"??

You may well find that:

the apple store doesnt have very many and they sell out quickly,
you can't cancel your order online because it has been/is being
prepared for shipment (i suppose you could telephone to cancel but if it is being prepared for shipment there is not much point)

although the lack of tracking is frustrating, i am still pretty optimistic for a friday delivery.

It really isn't worth trying to cancel your order now. In-store iPads are on a purely first come, first served basis and are probably going to be sold out very quickly.
At the moment you have a guaranteed iPad, which since you ordered on the 10th of May, is very likely to arrive this friday. Just be patient for a little bit longer 🙂 (ie, 3 days)

My thoughts exactly. I'm pretty sure that all iPads already shipped out from Apple's factory in Shenzhen will be delivered on Friday. I do think it is highly unlikely that anyone will get theirs before that. Also stock in the Apple stores will more then likely be limited and I suspect there will probably be ques outside the stores before they open. They will probably sell out pretty quickly. There is no point cancelling an online order in the hope you will be able to pick one up on the day from an Apple store IMHO. I'm going to just sit tight and wait for my online order to be delivered. Besides I have to work that day and there is no way for me to get to a store until around 6pm anyway.

That was the whole point of pre-ordering. No point in going to the Apple Store you might come away empty handed. Here in Italy the Store opens at 8am on Friday, although it is a 15 min drive from me I still can't make it at that time and don't fancy queueing up for the thing. I was told a few weeks ago by the Store that they would have a lot of iPads in that day, even so the ratio on iPads and being bought I reckon will be selling like hotcakes (even though there's a recession going on). Happy iPad day everyone!!! :))

My tracking number still isn't recognised by UPS 😟
I'd just like some information about what's going on. I'm taking a guess that since it's listed as UPS (UK) making the delivery for my iPad, that I won't get any tracking info until it arrives somewhere in the UK?

I had a tracking number as soon as they shipped the order. It was for China location. It wasn't updated very well, but the computer was able to show a status from day 2.

Sounds good - but listen up to what 3italia are offering, I already got the microsim last week so am ready to go 😉 3GB 5€ per month PAYG - I don't really need to use it much here in Italy but the great thing about it is the "like home" offer which is automatically on every microsim - when I come to the uk this summer I can use the same tariff roaming under 3UK and not spend anything extra, not bad huh? :))
