I think that is just a misprint in the UK store as this shows as iPhone, iPhone 3G, and iPhone 3Gs in all the other Apple Online stores. I think the kit will technically work with the iPhone 4, however I think the new design is slightly taller and does not have a "rounded" lip for the top latch to latch on to. I've been waiting to hear word from TomTom as to news on both updated software and new iPhone 4 car kits before I spend $99 on something. I hope they change the design a little to add in some missing features. I think they should put a 30pin dock connector on the base that can provide power from your current iPhone car charger rather than using a mini-usb. Also the inclusion of a RF modulator and a 1/8" audio out would be welcome so users can choose to use either option to connect to their car stereo. The FM modulator could be controlled via the TomTom app(s) to easily change the station, or to have the iPhone seek for the best available station. I really like the TomTom IQ routes, and their routes have been the most accurate in my experience, but as others have noted here they have been extremely slow in adopting this new platform. Lastly I wish they would release a new TomTom app that was free, and then use in-app purchase to buy and download the map packs you want. They seem to really be missing the boat here... just my 2 cents.

Alrighty I'm here to end all the speculation.

I got my iPhone 4 this morning at 9am. I just went to test it in my car with my car kit.

- The phone does fit, however there is space between in between the plastic and the phone
- Even though it does fit, when I plugged in the power it did not show up
-bluetooth did not show up either since the USB wasn't reading the device.

No go everyone. Hopefully TomTom takes care of us loyal customers who put out a good deal of money for the car unit.

ouch....I feel real silly having just purchased the TomTom kit only 2 months ago. It never even crossed my mind that the upgrade was around the corner.

What REALLY chaps me is that cradle is the end-all-be-all solution to iPhone in the car. It works like a charm and allowed me to rid myself of the cumbersome TomTom GPS device constantly hanging from my windshield.

Bummer.

Confirmed. The current car kit is NOT compatible. It does not show charging, does not connect to bluetooth, nor does it play music through the line out. The car kit app does not show that it docks. Heck, the phone doesn't even recognize you put something in its port...not even a "this device is not compatible" message.

It went into the kit fine but it was difficult to get out, due to the more square lip of the iPhone's design.

TomTom....ball is your court.

This seems crazy.
It begs the question...
Does iPhone 4 get charged by any existing third party charger?
Does any existing bluetooth device work?
Does any existing audio dock/output thingy work?

I can understand some things not working on the mount but not everything!

This is worrying indeed.

I'm glad I've held back my desire to buy '4 straight away!

Confirmed again. Even with TomTom 1.4. The dock connector is at such an angle that the connection is lost when you snap the phone under the top arm.

I switched to the Magellan Premium Car Kit which is designed for both the iPhone 3/3GS and the iPod Touch. This dock connector swivels slightly and the iPhone 4 works fine, both charging, speaker output and aux GPS reception.

I don't have an iPhone4 yet, but can you try something? Stick a couple of credit cards or a bit of thin cardboard behind the base of the phone before you click it home. I just tried that with an old (thin) 1G iPod Touch in my TomTom:

No credit cards = no power or audio out. A couple of cards = SUCCESS! You might need to experiment a bit, but I'm thinking once you figure out the thickness needed, you could glue a tiny bit of plastic onto the swiveling dock connector?

I really hope this works for the phone!
