iphone 4 and tomtom car kit

Yes the TomTom car kit works with the iPhone 4, however not with some modification. Since the back of the phone is smaller you have to put some padding.

Meh...I've already listed it on Ebay. Just wondering how long I'm going to have to go without a car charger + audio line out device again. Kind of a bummer...but that's the price I paid for early adopting.

Now I just hope TomTom compensates us a little.

Yup - I tried for roughly 15 minutes to get it to work; wiggled, cycled power, tried to pair, etc...

I have my iphone 4 working great with my car kit now. You need something about the thickness of a quarter to put at the bottom. I used a nonslip skid pad made for furniture to get mine to work. Heres a vidio I put on utube of how I did it:

Great video and thanks for posting the suggestion! I am anxious to give this a try once I can pick up the bumpers. Did you put one on the car kit antenna booster as well or just the usb port? I remember earlier that there was a concern that the new phone wouldn't be flush to the edge of the car kit, which is apparently where the GPS booster is located. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Again, a tip of the hat to you sir. I wouldn't be surprised if tom tom officially endorses that fix, or tries to sell something like that themselves.

I can confirm putting something behind the iPhone 4 before placing it in the dock does work. With some tests, I got it down to 7 10pt weight (80lb) business cards, for a total of 0.07 inches/1.778 mm. Just put the patting at the bottom of the dock before snapping in the phone.

The iPhone 4 fits in the UK TomTom car kit just fine. It's a tighter fit than with the 3gs, but it still fits.

I just want to reiterate that the felt skidpad mentioned by Chapstick4 does indeed work. I had a similar idea this morning to use some foam tape cut to the appropriate size, but this is even easier! I just needed one very small skidpad from the hardware store. I kept the rest of the pack in my car in case the adhesive melts from the summer heat.

Yes everything works as it should. I ran the tomtom satilite app and everything is working. Im sure tomtom will come out with some kind of official bumper that we can buy for the low price of $29.99 or something but I think I will stick with my home grown fix lol.

Just tried my new iPhone 4 and it fits but doesn't charge or work with audio cable

I also thought about the heat might make the skid pad come off so I took off the double sided tape that was on the back of my skid pads and put a few drops of super glue instead. Good thing I like this fix becuase its not comeing off now lol.

It fits perfectly. I have both.

There is a bit of a gab in the center, but the top and bottom fit beautifully. There is no wiggle. I am happy that I can keep the dock.
