You are joking?? I mean the parallel I draw is +'In the same way that perhaps Michelin should give us a free tyre exchange for the new low profiles we just bought when the new shape C-Class comes out and we find out that Mercedes are using a different wheel size?+
Or maybe my take is a little off?

I hope TomTom are reading this thread, and realise how much negative feedback they are getting. I'll add to that...
There have been two upgrades to the TomTom app on the iTunes store since I started this thread. Unfortunately, each upgrade is so large I've had to wipe loads of stuff off my 16gb 3gs to make room for the upgrade (i guess it adds the new version before deleting the old one?). That's inconvenient enough, especially twice in as many weeks. But to add to that, each upgrade then wipes all of my favourites off my phone, and as far as I am aware there is no way of doing a backup of this info first..?

All of these posts seem to be in June prior to the iPhone 4 release. I bought a 3gs in mid May and Apple/AT&T offered to let those of us who purchased in May up-grade to the iPhone 4. I pre-ordered it the first day possible and picked it up at AT&T on release day. Except for needing to up-date my version of iTunes - everything transferred to the new phone with no problem. I've had a few dropped calls but I had a few problems with connections before - no worse now. When I got the 3gs, I bought the Tomtom app and the car kit. I REALLY didn't like the app. so I bought the NAVIGON and I use it with the Tomtom car kit. I loved it. Today I used the new iPhone 4 in the Tomtom kit. Navigon ran well. What didn't work was the audio output on the mount. I used the output plug on the top of the phone and connected it to the car stereo system. It seemed to work well, but when you use the output on the kit the sound is amplified by the kit (as is the GPS signal) The phone fits the cradle well enough (is secure) but I'm not sure that the new phone presses into the back of the cradle to activate the kit's GPS booster. SO, my best answer to all of these inquiries is that it works but not perfectly and I won't be happy either to have to buy a new kit since I just bought this one in May 2010. Maybe they'll come out with slightly different cables that will run from the mount to the stereo but I doubt it!

AH HA! I just looked at an earlier post that had 2 pictures - showed just where to put some padding - I had thought it was to go on the rubber "push button" but I see that it should go below that - thanks again. Way earlier on this thread someone commented that the "users" are the most interested and given the chance will come up with solutions - as in all of life, we're better when we work together!

Exactly. Not going to get anything from Tomtom on this one. After you get some padding on there check the tomtomcar kit tool app to verify the gps signal is going through. I noticed the audio and Bluetooth was working on mine but needed slightly more padding (and I mean slight) to get the gps signal.

Interestingly, I'm not sure the gps chipsets in the car kit is any better then the new gps chipset in the iPhone 4.

Yes it does fit. You have to make a slight modification use velcro as shown here:

Prior to watching this on youtube, I could not get the tomtom car kit to work. Basically this modification makes sure the phone is making contact with the contacts on the car kit and the bottom of the Iphone by making it the same size as the Iphone 3GS.

It works fine.
