iPad Safari crashing regularly

Any idea what can I do to stop my Ipad from crashing while writing emails?

This is what worked for me for my iPad 2:

1. Connect to itunes using pc/mac

2. Restore iOS to an earlier version (if you have backed up any previous versions) by selecting the version from the drop down in iTunes and let the process complete

3. Once complete, Restore ios using the restore button in iTunes (just press the restore button on the main screen of iTunes)

A "restore" is normally used to eliminate software issues/ A hardware replacement follows, as it might be related to the flash chips (the HDD) or some other component. Do not ask for new hardware before doing a restore.

I have updated to iOS 5.01 and Safari has crashed again...

Safari crashes when I am typing (active keyboard) in a forum. Please Apple revise it.

I did all of that and still reboots itself whitout warning and causes me to loose work..email.

Apple does not care about these issuses.

Before they will talk to me they want cash...

I will not buy another Apple product....

Just so that you know this is not a common issue with iPads.

If you are having a crash or reboot that is not related to safari please post in a new discussion.

If it is related, please post what you have tried. If you have not tried a restore and setup as new iPad preferably with current version try it. Do it in iTunes not over the air.

Apple's thirty dollar charge is a good deal. They will support you each and every time this happens until the problem is fixed. Genius bar appointments are free. If they can't fix it you get your money back.

Please try updating from iTunes from now on. What application is crashing? Restore from the latest backup would be my suggestion for you only. You can contact apple to report the issue and should preferably at the genius bar. Make sure the restore process fully completes. It can take awhile to successfully copy videos and music.

I have a new theory. Is it possible a bad update or backup file was the source of these problems for many of you? Terra is a good alternative browser. If you suspect this is it though unlikely we can try getting the os again via the download links in tuaw or apple store.

I believe this was my problem. Initially I upgraded to the iOS5 from home, via iTunes. Immediately after that, I had nothing but problems with Safari crashing repeatedly. Since none of the other suggestions I read here helped with the crashes, I finally went to the nearest apple store and they wiped my iPad clean and then reinstalled the iOS5 on my iPad and then we set it up as a new iPad. It has only crashed twice since then, but I can live with that.

I have an ipad 1 and it's been crashing a lot in Safari, just since the iOS5 upgrade. I'll have to see if i can figure out this restore thing in itunes. How tedious. At least my iphone 4s is fine so far.

After the 5.0.1 update all of my Safari problems have cleared up.

Interesting. I wish mine had. 5.0.1 did not help my poor ipad.

It looks like it's a little bit better with 5.0.1 - hard to tell though, it might just be a placebo, cause I'm still getting crashes, while I really hardly ever got any before on ios4.

Looking at the crash logs, I get truck loads of "out of memory" crashes, and I've noticed a few crashes happen precisely when I receive an email and the ipad goes "tiiing" and displays the notification, so I wouldn't actually be that surprised if the device is low on ram, notifications eat up the remaining and if that happens to happen when safari needs a chunk of ram, well good bye safari.

Just a thought.

I haven't paid attention, but most of my usage is on wifi. I'll try to pay more attn when on 3g
