How do I delete Unwanted Email addresses?
Auto-fill in saves them all !
When I start a new email, every email address I've
ever written to pops up (To:) This greatly increases my
chances of sending a new email to the wrong person.
.....there's got to be a way to delete just the addresses
I don't want !....but where & how ?

I have searched every available resource, and for each suggestion (such as b/u restore) there are many many replies that say it does not work. This is clearly a functionality that is missing from this device and was clearly overlooked by Apple and should be corrected.

Also, I don't understand why user GatorsFan, who does not even own an iPhone and has no idea how to do it, would reply with "it's fairly simple" and then go on with nonsense instructions that do nothing.

I use the program iBackupBot for iTunes. http://www.icopybot.com/itunes-backup-manager.htm

I would recommend doing a backup of your phone directly before running the program, as the program pulls your latest backup.

Once open, you will select Plugin from the top menu and then select Recent Email Address. This will pull email addresses you have sent to. You can delete them individual. Once done, close out the pop up.

You will then select the icon for Restore Backup/File to iPhone/iPod touch. This will do a restore, only making the changes you selecting. Your iPhone will automatically restart. If you test one of the emails you deleted, you will see they no longer show up.

THANK YOU SO MUCH User uploaded file

Just a note to those of you who use a Mac as their primary computer:

If you can get access to a Windows PC at work or elsewhere, install iTunes if not already there. Then download the the free 7-day trial of iBackupBot. Start iTunes and make sure you select in Preferences not to autosync devices. (if you try to sync your iPhone, you will loose all your data, or have it replaced with whatever's in the PC's iTunes library.) Connect your iPhone and when it shows up in the left pane, right-click on it. From the pop-up menu, select Backup. When complete, you can then open the backup file from iBackupBot to remove the unwanted email address as above. When you reload the modified backup file from iBackupBot ( not iTunes), the iPhone will reboot and all you data will be preserved except for the deleted autocomplete entries!

(This whole procedure had me really worried because normally when you "Restore from Backup" in iTunes, you lose all of your media and other data.)

It stinks that you have to find a PC in order to do this, but it does work.

After reading all the posts and NOT wanting to wipe out everything on my iPhone, I downloaded iBackupBot for iTunes and feel that I followed the directions that worked for several others but I'm having no luck.

I have one entry that I error'd on when I entered it. I also use auto fill which I like but no matter what I've tried I can't find that entry so can't get rid of it. I also deleted my own email address trying to figure this out but when I use iBackupBot and check the contacts neither of them are there, but when I use my phone and type in a couple of letters both my personal one and the erroneous one are still on the phone.

Any idea what I could be doing wrong?

Sure would appreciate any help at all.

Thanks.
