Can't delete Unwanted Email addresses, Auto-fill in saves them all !

How do I delete Unwanted Email addresses?
Auto-fill in saves them all !
When I start a new email, every email address I've
ever written to pops up (To:) This greatly increases my
chances of sending a new email to the wrong person.
.....there's got to be a way to delete just the addresses
I don't want !....but where & how ?

download iBackupBot: http://www.icopybot.com/itunes-backup-manager.htm

it allows you to read your backup files without jailbreaking your phone. Click on your backup and under the plugin dropdown there is a 'recent email addresses' plugin. you can use it to delete your unwanted email addresses.

Then go to iTunes, right click on your iPhone and restore from backup. Don't click the restore button in the middle of iTunes. right click on your iPhone on the left side of the page.

This is the easiest method I've found. THANK YOU iBackupBot!!!!

I did almost the same thing with iBackupBot but after deleting the recent email addresses I used "restore IPHONE from the file drop down menu on the left side of the screen. Checked the IPHONE4 by forwarding any email message and hitting any letter to see if any old email address popped up. Nothing did! Then I went back to Itunes to delete all the previous backups I made. Now I'm going to sync my IPHONE4 and make a new backup. Hopefully the old addresses don't come back ever:)

It worked! It was extremely frustrating trying to remove an e-mail address I could not keep from auto-completing. After searching the web, deleting all my e-mail accounts, and restoring my iPod, I finally came across this thread. I just can't believe there is no Apple solution for this and that I have to pay $35 after a seven-day trial for third-party software.

Bought my wife the new 4S, gave my daughter my wife's old 3GS, set her email up, and BAM, there was all of my wife's previous contacts in the autofill section of her composing an email, even though they weren't under her contact list.

Used iBackupBot, found all those old contacts, deleted them, and the phone is like new again.

Please excuse me while I go clean myself off. I'm sorry but I'm just extremely thrilled that this actually worked.

Thank you to the man, behind the man, behind the man. Much appreciated.

Yes, I just completed this process a few minutes ago and it worked flawlessly!!

Also, as a note, I have a 2008 macbook laptop that is my primary computer. I just followed the directions mentioned above and was able to download the free trial version of iBackupBot for Mac at http://www.icopybot.com/itunes-backup-manager.htm and then delete all of my unwanted email addresses!

Thank you so much!!

Yes, iBackUpBot totally works (thanks!!), but only for "recent" emails -- ones used on your iPhone within the last year.

Other note: All the above posts about Mac mail have nothing to do with this issue -- this issue is for ANY email program used on the iPhone (e.g. Gmail). Fixing something in Mac mail (an email address ending in "@me.com") won't make any difference on your iPhone -- unless Mac mail is the only email account you have ever used on your iPhone.

Need to temper the excitement that "iBackUpBot totally works". To the contrary. It may have been successfull for those who only want to delete unwanted e-mail addresses used for e-mail services. However, once you want to clear an e-mail address formerly entered under CALENDER-Add Event-Invitees, there is NO WAY one could clear this with the said program. Any support request in this respect remains absent too. Hence, your expensive iPhone remains cluttered with unwanted info. Apple also remains ignorent to user experience. We all seem to go for the formfactor only instead of robust and fully functional IOS.;
