I turned off my iPad and went to turn it on again right away because I wanted to check something. The **** thing will not turn on. Even if I hook it up to my Mac or power cable the charging screen will not start nor will iTunes start. The battery was at about 50%. The iPad is DEAD!! Does anyone know what is wrong or how I can power it back on. Its not reacting to anything I do.
Try holding the sleep/wake button (top right) and the home button (bottom center) for about 10 seconds. If that doesn't work then try doing the same procedure with it plugged into a power source.
If that doesn't work then try this article:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 (it only says iPhone and iPod Touch but the process for the iPad is the same)
Can you tell us why this happens? Sounds like these problems have been going on for over 6months. I just got my iPad (been using it for less than 24hours) and this happened to me, too. I don't think this is a 'bug' for 'early adopters' at this point. Is it going to keep happening? This is a pretty expensive thing to have it crash every day.
thanks for that tip.... worked great 🙂 but I would also like to know how to stop it doing it again.... what if it does it and doesn't come back on again when its no longer under warranty?
I've had my ipad for less than a week. I've, also, had the "won't turn on" problem. I looked at the forum and did a reset. The product is, fairly, new but it HAS been out long enough to resolve the issue. If anyone gets a reply from apple about this, please share it with us.
And...Now we hear that the next generation is coming out in a couple of months and has a camera. I would have waited. Has anyone else heard the rumor?
Thanks for your help. This forum saved me when tech. support wasn't available.
OMG..... I was about to lose all sense of realtiy when my iPad didn't comply with my wishes!!! I saw it turn off on my way back to it, but then it wouldn't turn back on!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! This post saved alot of heartache and busted knuckles from punching things!!!! Thank you!!! I too have an Apple brand skin on it, i've read signs pointing to possible overheating from these.... Any ideas???
