iOS 4 Initial impressions

So, I just installed iOS 4 on my 32GB 3GS. The download itself took about 3 minutes and then the installation took about 30 minutes. But to be fair, most of the installation was restoring all my data back onto the phone.

I am looking forward to messing around with the new OS and posting more impressions.

What do you guys think of the new OS?

13" MacBook Pro 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Mac OS X (10.6.4), 32 GB iPhone 3GS; 32 GB iPhone 4 Black (delivers on June 24)

I saw this option when I first fired up 4.0 but now I can't seem to locate it. Hints please. Thanks

Sam

It's on the multi-tasking task bar. Just flick along to the left and the icon is there.

Well, don't I feel a D-bag. Thanks for the help.

Install was no problem...

Suddenly I am getting a decent and consistent O2 signal which is great!

I used to get all my contacts from my Google App account...which have now disappeared and can't seem to find a way of getting them back. Under Setting > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > my account > I can specify mail, calendars and notes on/off but not contacts... This is NOT so good!

I probably am overlooking something! Any help greatly appreciated!

Wow it is great. I live out in the country so the DSL is slow. The hole thing only took 1 hour and I love it so far. It is noticeable faster, but so far I have not figured out how to make folders.
Has anyone else had this issue. I did get the links that show allot so still trying to figure out.
So far so good.

Press and hold your finger on an icon, they should start to wiggle.
The drag an icon on top of another icon, they will then both be put in a folder.

I like the folders, and the home screen wallpaper (I changed mine to a plainer one so as not to make the screen too busy), but multitasking will take some getting used to. We're used to popping in to an app and then back to the home screen (or not - text messages, for example) with no 'penalty', but now the apps need to be closed or they're all sitting there running and eating battery power. My battery meter has dropped significantly in the 3 hrs since I upgraded.

Explaining it to a friend who asked, I equated it to the Mac OS where you have to 'Quit' programs as opposed to just closing the window. This makes sense from an Apple continuity perspective, but when I haven't had to be aware of this behaviour for the last year, it's going to be an adjustment, especially when it's a single quick peek at email or a text. I'll also be interested to see how much power the Camera uses idling in the background.

Just installed iOS4 on my 3GS. Noticed small slowdowns or hiccups in most games (Canabalt, Tilt to Live, Dungeon Hunter). Anyone else experience slowdowns? Also seemed to me that most other apps take an extra second to open for the first time, but open instantly, once they are in the multitasking app tray.

I'm also experiencing some slowdown in games. Well just angry birds, haven't really tried any others.
