Drop calls still with iPhone 4

I just got my new iPhone 4 today and test it out with my old 3GS. I still have drop calls plus my 3GS has more bars than the new iPhone 4. *** can Apple and AT&T fix this problem. They both had 3 years to fix this problem. Does anybody else have this problem.

My reception is horrible with this phone! It's not just that calls are dropped. I have no bars in places where I formerly had full service with my iPhone 3G. I can't make calls, I can't send or receive text messages. I've held it by a tiny edge at the bottom, sideways, and even upside down through the sunroof of my car in order to increase reception. This is ridiculous!!! Someone in another post suggested that a software fix might be forthcoming from Apple. Anyone know about that or any other suggestions? If nothing changes soon, I'll be returning mine.

I have the same problems, and i to can hold the phone with 2 fingers, and it works most of the time. Im told that with the bumper, you wont short out the antenna, and the phone will work flawlessly. I have been using the bumper, and so far seems to have helped the situation.

I would prefer to use the phone out of the bumper. im sure like many of you, i bought this phone because of the design - looks great. i don't want to cover it up with a plastic piece of crap for the phone to work.

There is supposed to be a software update. there are conflicting reports as to weather this update will fix the problem. apple says that it will only fix the amount of bars your phone displays, not the strength of the signal.

not sure what to do.

how do you know they have fixed the problem? what is the fix?

I would like to know the answer to those questions also. Apple is usually silent when it comes to any hardware modifications during production of products. If news like that leaked out, people that already own one would want/demand a replacement. User uploaded file
