FedEx mailed me an empty box..

I was able to pre-order my iPhone 4 on day one and waited for it to arrive today. After signing for my package I walked into my house and realized the tape was broken on the box and nothing was inside the package. The FedEx was already long gone. I called Apple and they told me they would contact me back in 24 hours by email. I made sure the lady made a note that said I wanted them to call me.

She said they will probably mail me another iPhone but has no idea when. I was beyond ******. I asked if she can reserve me a phone in any store and I would pick it up tomorrow and she said that isn't possible.

It has been many hours and no one has contacted me. I also called FedEx and let them know about my problem. They promised to call the driver of the truck and the station he picked the package up from to locate my iPhone. They said they would call me back before the end of the day. It is now 9pm and no call.

I'm not exactly sure what to do. I can't believe I was delivered an opened package and the FedEx guy said nothing when handing it to me. I assume I'll have to wait till mid next month before they actually ship me one. Sigh.

same thing happened to me today. my dad received the package cause i was in the bathroom. when he handed me the box, it was so light, i shook it. then i saw that the single clear tape securing the box has been cut, it was tampered. i tried to see if i can still catch the fedex guy, but he drove off already. i called fedex and they said they would call me within 24 hours. i called apple too and they told me they are gonna call fedex to figure out what happened and will call me within 1 business day. the lady said they will probably have to ship me another one. thieves everywhere, ugh!

Something similar happened to me, but thank God my phone was actually in there. My dad had received the package while I was at work and when I got home to open it, I saw the tape on the box had already been opened and tampered with, but when I opened the box, the iPhone 4 box was still wrapped in plastic and sealed and in there so at least they didn't try to tamper with that.

Hope that all of you get your problem resolved.

i don't think so. i think it was stolen, seeing as there are others that are experiencing the same problem. i just think the packaging is not secured at all. the only seal is a clear tape in the middle, that's it. then outside the package there's a tape that says part no. and serial no. it's very easy to figure out what is in the box.

Actually, that phone was already registered to you, so anyone who tries to activate it can be traced. When i plugged mine in my phone number came up and was not editable, but i had to put in my last 4 and something else to prove it was me. Im thinking these people have stolen unusable items.

Probably not. Someone in the know can make it usable and not locked to a carrier, I suspect. So there may be a market for such goods.

I just hope all have experienced this get their phones replaced by Apple and soon; that's really the only remedy.

Apple will not trace stolen property.
Below are some things you can do:

1) Report it to the police and keep a copy of the police report.
2) File an official claim with the shipper. THey are the ones that accspted it from Apple.
3) Your homeowners insurance may cover it. Ask your agent. Deductable will apply and a claim could affect future premiums.
4) Your credit card used to purchase it may cover it. Read your contract.
5) Theft loss is tax deductable so keep the police report for the 2010 tax season.

Good luck....
