Issue with Proximity Sensor during calls

I thought it was just me. Have been hanging up on calls, or turning on the speakerphone with my face. Hope this gets fixed with the "antenna" update.

Don't worry just like a bumper for antenna problem Apple would soon now start selling there bluetooth as a fix for this proximity problem 😐 common APPLE fix all these problems GEEZ

Add three phones (mine, my wife, and friend) all having this problem!!!

Please fix this issue, the phone is useless as a phone.

Our old original iPhones did not have this issue.

I am having exactly the same problem with the Proximity Sensor. Calls muted, speaker phone turned on, etc. Please find a solution.

Add one more. I accidentally muted my girlfriend three times while I was talking to her last night.

The solution to this issue is very simple. I had a few friends complaining about that, then I realized that they were using iPhone 3G(S) cases or protections.

So just told them to stop using these protections and to consider buying ones designed specifically for iPhone 4. And voila, the problem was GONE and never reappeared since!
So just don't use iPhone 3G(S) cases or protection and you'll not experience this problem anymore.

Why using iPhone 3G(S) case or protection provoke this issue? Simply because the proximity sensor(s) is not in the same place on the iPhone 4 than on the iPhone 3G(S)! So the case or protection is disturbing it.

If you do experience problems anyway even without using any case or protection, then your iPhone has an issue and you should exchange it for another one.

This also has been a been a frequent problem with my iPhone 4. I went to the local Apple Genius Bar yesterday, but the iPhone's proximity sensor worked fine while it was being examined by the Genius technician. The problem continued repeatedly today. I've just scheduled another appointment with Apple for tomorrow.

I'm also having a few other technical issues with the phone.... I've been getting a "NO SIM" message in the upper left corner of the screen, requiring me to reboot the phone each time it appears. Additionally, the phone has been dropping calls when I hold it in my left hand.

I'll probably return the phone and go with something else instead.

Unfortunately the Bluetooth has muffled voice quality that the listener can't hear me. So I guess iPhone 4 is epic failed. The location of the proximity is on top o f the ear piece and this will easily trigger the sensor sensing no object in front when the phone is slightly pointing upward toward.

I thought Bluetooth might solve the problem but it turns out that another issue has just been discovered!!!!!!

double click the power button and it will lock the screen. Single click ends the call.

I can confirm that I also have this issue, in one call I managed to mute the phone 3 times, dial random number and finally hang up on them. Again as others have said I have never had this happen once before on any previous model of iPhone.

I'm having the same problem, the keyboard is active when it's against my face and sometimes dials or hangs up the call. Otherwise the phone has no problems. This should be something they can release in the next update...fingers crossed!

Yep ive noticed this problem too, never happend with my 3G. fix it please Apple.

So far I have noticed 3 major problems:
1. Reception Issue.
2. Proximity Sensor Issue.
3. When traveling across Time Zones, Clock does not update automatically.

Apple really dropped the ball this time.
