Issue with Proximity Sensor during calls

I'm having an issue with the Proximity Sensor not properly detecting when i'm holding my phone to my ear. I can confirm that the iPhone sensor is working by covering it with my finger, but when held to my face, the screen blinks as if it cannot decide to disable the screen or enable it. It results on me hanging up, putting calls on mute, and dialing numbers accidentally while i'm on the phone. This occurs on 90% of my calls. Is anyone else experiencing this issue. I would like to confirm whether this is a software issue (Proximity Sensor sensitivity too low) or a design issue (sensor now placed towards the end of the phone).

Macbook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

I have experienced this problem with each generation of iPhone so dont believe this to be a new problem. My 3Gs was alot worse than the first two gen but also intermintant... the longer the call the more prone it was to happen. I have not had this happen yet on my iP4 but then its only been two days so who knows. It is a software fix though and can be done through an update to the iOS as seen in jailbroken phones when those sensors were either completly disabled or once activated would not shut off without rebooting the phone. Here's hoping there's an update forthcoming soon.

Cheers... Troy

The reported fix is to reset the phone. Go to Settings->General->Reset->Reset All. You won't lose any data, but you will have to redo your settings (wallpaper, ringtones, etc.) and reenter your wi-fi password. Several people have posted that this resolved the problem. I've done it on my phone, but have yet to make a call to see if it worked for me as well.

Anyone?
