Bluetooth Problems

HI all I have set up my jawbone to the iphone 4 what I did was to find the manual for the jawbone you have I have the prime so I had to hold both buttons together to get the jaw bone in a mode for connecting, Then the iphone will see it but says not paried then I had to click on the button that siad not paired and with in a minute the jawbone sync up and it was paried and works fine. I hope this all helps everyone out.

Im having the same problem as jedoonat except I am using a Plantronics Voyager Pro headset that worked with my old 32GB 3GS with no problems. Has anyone attempted calling apple about this situation?

I had a couple issues connecting the new iP4 with my car (Mercedes) but then I called Mercedes and I was doing it backwards. I was expecting the iPhone to find the car. In my case at least, the car needed to find the iPhone. So that solved the problem and once the car recognized my iP4 and I set a code in the car, then set the code in the phone, they paired and all is good in Bluetooth land.......So, if you're having trouble pairing your phone with your car system, ask the car to find the phone, not the other way around....

Well. It turns out my Bluetooth problems with my Jawbone and Backbeat headphones were both my fault. 100% user error....there's nothing wrong with my iPhone. It's been so long since I did the initial pairing of either device that I had forgotten that both of them needed a special button combination to be pressed to do the first pairing. In my defense, it was misleading that my iPhone was detecting other nearby Bluetooth devices and displaying them while never seeing mine.

I have been able to pair my Jawbone prime with the ip4 but it drops at odd times and when the phone and the JB are less than 2 feet away from each other. Very unreliable. Not that way with the 3GS even with IOS 4. I suspect this is an interaction between the IOS 4 code and the IP4 .

Problem solved! thegov's post got me thinking - google this. I read a post at howto and then I clicked through to jawbone's website. They have the manual there (which will remind you that the noise cancellation button on the original is the black end piece). I followed instructions, getting the light to go back and forth from red to white so I was finally in true pairing mode.

The i4 saw it immediately!

Why hen Bluetooth is on and connected does it still continue to search for new devices. Can I stop this as it must be using juice. Also I cannot connect to anthing other than a mobile device, My car or headset. it wont connect to other ohones or my pc?

Apple, I loved my 3GS until now that I "upgraded" to OS4. You HAVE TO FIX Bluetooth! My phone had reliably paired with my BMW until I installed OS4. Like other posters above, it pairs, then drops. I re-paired it and it worked for about 1 session. Now it connects and drops repeatedly, so I turned it off. It's miserable. Please fix this before I'm tempted to use my phone at my ear when driving and get a ticket or worse! Worse yet, there seems to be no way to go back to the last version of OS3, which worked perfectly. WHY OH WHY DID I BOTHER TO UPGRADE?

I am having the same problems. I use Sennheisser stereo bluetooth earbuds, Alpine (car) bluetooth adapter for stereo AND a Blinc bluetooth (Oneal motorcycle helmet) device --- ALL of them sound muffled to the other parties. I can hear them fine, however it is very hard for them to understand me. ALL of these devices worked FLAWLESSLY with my iPhone 3gs and 3g.

I have also noticed that with my Blinc stereo bluetooth, it will only play stereo music from the iPod application after a iPhone reboot. After I disconnect and reconnect I can not play music from the iPhone over the Blinc.

This is a pain in the rear, when will this be fixed and is it a known issue somewhere that we can track?

Exact same problem here, multiple headsets now. I've had an original Jawbone since iPhone, used it with my 3G, 3GS, and now 4. When I got my 4, all my calls were basically sounding "underwater" or seriously garbled. I figured the headset must be getting old, so I went out and bought a two more to compare. The issue was replicated with both a Plantronics Voyager Pro and Aliph Jawbone Icon, and most recently the Sound ID 510. Also, I noticed in my car, my bluetooth intermittently connects and disconnects, then reconnects randomly while in the car. Bluetooth is basically completely useless with iOS 4 or iPhone 4. Not sure what the issue is, but it appears to be a software bluetooth stack one, given what I'm reading on this forum. It does not seem to be a signal issue, since I'm using a bumper, and have even tried holding the phone right next to the bluetooth on the bluetooth antennae side to test if that makes a difference.

Other than re-pairing devices, there is no "cure" or "fix" or place to follow that I have found.

My iPhone 3gs was perfect until the last upgrade (iOS4). Now my bluetooth connections continues to drop and to reconnect throughout the day for no apparent reason (I did not hit a bump, the phone did not change position, etc.)

Until the upgrade, my bluetooth connection to my Ford Flex was flawless. Nothing else has changed.

The Bluetooth problem appears to be by software (iOS 4) and hardware (iPhone 4) related.

I hope that Apple comes through with an update to iOS4 with a fix SOOOOOOON!!!! I don't know what will happen with the iPhone 4 hardware.

On my Nissan Altima, my phone will vibrate 3-4 times in my pocket before my display/stereo shows a call. Even then, the in-car ringer does not work and the other person on the line can hardly hear me. I tested this on three cars, using two different iPhone 4's.

Clearly there seems to be an issue with iOS4 and bluetooth. Apple, please fix this ASAP.

Please dont wear your bluetooth earpiece in public.

Philip, I have had the exact same issue on my '07 Sentra. I had my 3G on iOS 4 for about a week and it did the same thing in terms of not ringing when a call came in and muffled audio. Now, with the 4 I have intermittent connection and long delays for calls. I am not sure if it's a hardware or software issue now, maybe it is both.
