iPhone 4, iOS 4
Used the iTunes Restore and the problem was solved (no need to erase backups etc etc). Just reset it to factory settings and then restore your last backup.
Thanks, you' re right. Not drastic only time consuming, and effective. iPhone is showing the correct time again.

May 26th, 2011 (+8 Hrs when set manually ;-) )
IOS 4.3.3
3GS: Suddenly my iPhone started to display the incorrect time. It was ahead 6 hrs & 12 mins. WT Heck? Yes, it's set to Auto. I removed the SIM and that didn't corect it. Synced to iTunes and that hasn't helped either.
Will just set it Manually.
Any fixes coming soon?
TIA

Looks like this has been going on for while now with no real resolution from Apple!
i have a 3GS running 4.3.3. No matter whih version of OS i am on, it still has the time issue.
The time on my ohone is 4 hours behind the actual time in my time zone.
The phone was activated in the correct time zone where i am and i have been having this issue for sometime now.
I am n Ireland and when i set the time to automatic, it is 4 hours behind. but when i travel to a different country in europe, lets say Italy, i set it to automatic and it displays the correct time.
its pretty annoying to have to keep changing from auto to manual time set as i travel a lot to different regions and countries globally!
Will there be an actual resolution from Apple? as i have not seen any info from Appe with regards to this issue!!!!
Dissapointing!
It just got me as well. 32gb 3GS running iOS 4.3.3
Currently 10.45pm on Tuesday 7 June but if I set to Auto Time it says it's 6.09pm on Thursday 16 June.
Have tried pretty much all the resets suggested here and nothing has worked. Can't see any cause for it either as it was fine this morning, has not been connected to a computer today and was suddenly out of whack mid-afternoon.
In Australia running on the 3/Vodafone network.
OK Solved this i think.
Go into your time and date settings on your computer and change your region to suit your country, adjust time and date to suit on your computer if still needed. Re sync iphone to piece of **** itunes and it should update to correct time and date. Thats all my people.
I had the same annoying problem, everytime i syncronised my iphone 4 with itunes, the time changed by several hours (different time zone i assume). After reading this i tried settings>general>reset>reset network settings. Hooray problem fixed.
Just did this for my iPhone 3G, worked like a charm.
Settings>general>reset>reset network settings.problem fixed.
After traveling to the US from overseas, I found the automatic time feature not working. It seems to be stuck on the US zone we traveled to.... restoring to factory and resetting network is not resolving the issue. The only workaround seems to be setting it manually. We have 2 iphone 4's. The one not working was restored to the latest firmware.
Any other ideas for a fix. I've tried the iphone configuration tool to verify all settings but nothing seems to be working
This is exactly what happened to me--after travelling to the US, I couldn't get auto-correct to work. I did kloon's noo-clee-are solution and it started working again. Only problem after restore was having to reinstall the Apps, but wasn't forced to repay for any of them.
That being said, this is clearly a bug in the OS that should be fixed.
Woke up late today at 7:10 and iPhone said it was 12:35am. Clock was running because it said it was 12:55 by the time I got it fixed....
Did the reset network settings and it fixed it for now.
I think I may have found a fix for this. Go to date and time. Turn of auto. Then go to network turn of 3 g and turn off and turn on again. Then go back into date and time. And then turn on auto again
I've just tried that but it didn't work for me. Like posts above I have just returned from the US to UK and now the time zone (on auto) is stuck on New York time. Have tried heaps of other suggestions too but so far none of them have worked in my case.
