So the average Apple customer needs to be an Apple FanBoy just to know what glass is used in their devices?
It doesn't make sense no matter how you look at it unless your an Apple fanboy!
No The average Apple customer does not become hysterically concerned about who provided the materials from which the iPhone is made.
I only became concerned about what glass is being used in my iPhone 4s after the glass shattered from dropping it from a short distance. I never even heard of Gorilla Glass until I was told by a friend of mine "Well, If Apple used Gorilla Glass like in my smartphone the glass would not have broken so easily" So then after hearing this I asked the women at the Apple store what glass is used in my iphone 4s and if its Gorilla Glass? she stated "Apple uses there own glass and not Gorilla Glass" And thats where I got my information from. After doing my own research and watching some demonstration videos on what Gorilla Glass is and what its limitations are I then came to my own conclusion that Apple more then likely is not using this glass in their devices. There is very little evidence If any evidence at all that Apple is in fact are using Gorilla Glass other then Mac Fanboys saying that they do, so why should I believe that Apple is using this Gorilla Glass in any of their devices?
Other than the excerpt in the biography, the framed note on the CEOs wall, interviews with the Corning Glass CEO and Tim Cook's testimony to Congress, and Apple doesn't own a glass factory?

While I don't think it was ever said straight up the the Apple uses Gorilla Glass they have always stopped just short of admitting it.
I can't figure it out for the life of me why they wouldn't say they use it but that's Apple.
But they DO use it.

That is probably not enough for him since "the girl at the Apple Store" told him otherwise.
I'm not saying that Apple never used Gorilla Glass in any of there iPhone models, but that its just a possibility that they tried something different with the 4s? It doesn't mean that their not using it in the iphone 5 or any of their past iPhones. I think it would be better from a marketing stand point for Apple to be more open about what glass is being used in their products. Gorilla Glass I have been hearing about how amazingly durable this glass is and when Apple geniuses are saying to their customers that there not using it when most other smart phones are, it makes me contemplate wheather or not I should try a smartphone that I know is definitely using gorilla glass.
Why can't Apple make their iPhone line sound even better by stating that they use the most durable advanced glass on the market today Gorilla Glass 3 ?
It has always used Corning class from the factory in Harrisburg, Kentucky. Even the iPhone 4s. If what has been posted here does not convince you, and you would rather believe the girl in the Apple Store, that is your prerogative. As already shown Apple worked with Corning to develop gorilla glass for smartphones, why would they change for one model?
If you feel their marketing should be handled differently apply to work for them in the marketing department or send your suggestion here: https://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html. They have done fairly well without presenting this fact and I doubt there are many people who shop for their devices depending on what glass it uses.
If you shop that way then you already have the list of companies that allow Corning to list them, buy a phone from one of them. But it is obvious that Apple uses Corning Gorilla Glass.
I work in an enterprise environment and have seen all sorts of iPhone breakage. Personally, I have dropped mine out of my truck onto asphalt with no cracks, while I have seen one fall off a chair onto carpet and crack the screen. Yes, either one is the end user's fault, but people assume a certain durability when purchasing mobile devices. The phones are made to avoid user interventions...you cannot replace or change anything yourself without specialized tools. Batteries are not replaceable (not easily anyway). Of course, this all can be researched before purchasing, but again, when I purchase any device that will move around (remote control, iPhone, headphones, glasses, a watch) I expect them to endure small drops and dings. You know Apple is charging you 150 dollars for a replacement device, then paying 30 bucks plus a half hour labor to replace the broken screen (if thats all thats broke), then selling that device off to the next guy for 150 bucks. I think we all know thats whats going on. Yes, paying 150 bucks is better than 600, but paying them to just replace the screen would be even better. Nobody is asking for anything free, just repair. We know you can do it.
Just imagine Lenovo saying, 'What, you dropped your phone on your keyboard and broke a key? We don't replace keyboards, you'll have to buy this refurb laptop for 150 dollars. And no, we don't sell keyboards to the public either, we don't want them repairing things themselves, we want to do it and charge our own fees'. Fujitsu is known for that. But, I digress. We all can research things before we buy, but on the same vein, it would be nice to know that you have to drop an iPhone really good in order to break it. SOmetimes thats the case, sometimes setting them down too hard spiderwebs the screen. I love Apple products, but their support can be a pain. I feel for both sides!

I want to play poker with you! That's a terrible deal. You late out $100 now, which you lose if you don't break your screen during the 2 years. Then, if you do break your screen, you pay another $50 to fix it. But if you take it in to the Apple store, they will replace your phone for $199 (or far less, depending on model and if you're really nice). So, if you break your screen in the 2 year period, maybe you save $49, not counting the value of the $100 you paid up front. And all that assumes that you don't want a new iPhone for the $199 upgrade charge when you are eligible ever 2 years.
