Cracked screen of my new iPhone 4

Dropped Iphone 4 -- shattered front screen...phone is only a week old 😟
Any ideas on what kind of sympathy I may get from Apple?

iPhone 4, iOS 4

I bought my IPhone the first day Verizon launched it. One day I was getting out of my car and the phone slipped out of my pocket about 7-8 inches off the ground. There was a case on the phone but still managed to fracture the left side of the screen. It wasn't too noticable at first but then I started to see the crack extending. After reading some of these posts, I decided to make an appointment and take the phone to the Apple store downtown in Philadelphia. Once I was checked in at the store I politely explained what happened to the woman helping me. She said (just like some of you have said they do) "Since you were honest with what happen, and you haven't had any other problems. We will replace the phone at no charge since the phone is pretty new." It took about 10 minutes to set everything up and I was done. Great customer service Apple! Very grateful to all those who posted their stories on here. Thank you all!

I bought my iPhone 4 off the Verizon website a couple weeks ago with insurance through Verizon but a couple days ago i was at taco bell eating with the phone in my lap and it slid off and hit the ground front facing down. The height was about 2 feet and cracked the screen by the ear part and chipped part of the side causing me to put scratches on the screen when I went to wipe smudges off and bits of glass came out. I was wondering if the Genius Bar At the apple store would still be able to help me with my iPhone even though I bought it through Verizon. Im wondering if I should go in and see if they will replace the screen or phone for no charge like what I'm seeing instead of paying the 90 dollars to replace it through Verizon...can anyone help me with this?

I purchased my iPhone through Verizon as well. I have insurance through verizon, but the phone has a warranty for the first year I believe. I took my phone to the Apple store after I dropped it and cracked the screen. I was honest and nice to the woman helping me and she replaced the phone completely as a one time courtesy at no charge. I think as long as you are nice and honest you should receive the same result. Hope this helps.

My wife dropped her iphone 4 yesterday with an otter box on it and it still cracked the front screen. Took it to apple and told them I had saw on here that others had their phones replaced for free. No such luck for me. I am not paying $199 to replace. So much for that great customer service some of you spoke so highly about. If you are going to make a phone that is that expensive then it should be more durable then a 3 foot drop in a protective case.

I broke my 5 month old iphone 4 screen while working.

I am a carpenter and stupidly put my phone in the tool bag I was wearing and shattered my screen while installing some cabinets.

Wondering what to do, and after checking the internet, I bought a $50 screen from Amazon that I intended to install myself.

But before I put the new screen in, I thought I would just check in at my nearest Apple store because I read on these forums that sometimes Apple will switch out the phones at NO COST.

Well, THEY GAVE ME A NEW PHONE AT NO COST TO ME!!!!!!!!

I can't believe it.

A brand new iphone 4 with a virgin screen.

Trust me I will be more careful in the future, but just to know, Apple took care of me.

Thank you Apple , and bless you Steve Jobs.

Sincerely, Dan.

I made an appointment today for 1:45 and arrived early. I finally got in around 2:30. The person said, "we'll get that fixed for you," then got the serial number, and reported they could not even attempt to fix it before actually examining the phone and cracked screen. This is a Verizon iPhone 4 less than a year old, naturally. He did offer a replacement, but at $130. At first I was upset there wasn't even an option to fix the screen, but after reading some of these posts, I guess that's a good deal afterall. Kudos to those of you who managed to get replacement phones, but it appears that ship has sailed.
