Cracked screen of my new iPhone 4

Dropped Iphone 4 -- shattered front screen...phone is only a week old 😟
Any ideas on what kind of sympathy I may get from Apple?

Same problem here. My iPhone 4 fell from about 3 feet, landed on the top left corner and spider-webbed the front screen. When I saw the screen cracked, it basically felt as if my final Horcrux had been destroyed ;( - I can't make it into the Apple store until the end of the week but will be setting an appointment and heading in then. Wish me luck.

I have had my 4s for 2 weeks ..it fell out of my pocket getting out if car(about 1 foot) cracked screen!!!!! Went to apple store..was very polite and honest...ohh it's going to cost u 199 plus 50 if u want apple care...was happy with my phone up until I realize it's this fragile..and no I didn't get a chance to buy a cover for it...I've never had a cracked screen with numerous phones I've owned with no cover! And I've dropped them many times. I WAS a big advocate for apple until now. 4s with cracked screen(still works) $100- shipped

Hi guy's,

I think people expect to much from the products they buy.

Bear in mind at the end of the day the Front and Back Panel of the iPhone are made from Glass. Glass is a very brittle material and when dropped Glass usually breaks, especially if dropped on it's edge. I bought the iPhone 3G and dropped that within the first few weeks of owning it and did not expect Apple to repair it under warranty.

If you take any device to any manufacturer to have it repaired it will be costly eg. I had a PDA some years ago and broke the screen, I am an Electronics Engineer but HP would not supply me with a screen I had to return it to them for repair at the cost of $150.00.

If you do a search on the Web there are lots or places advertising iPhone screen replacement, there are also heaps of Tutorials showing you how to replace it yourself and most parts are readily available from eBay at a very resonable price.

At the end of the day it is Glass and if dropped, it will break, the best investment you can buy make your Smartphones is a decent cover. You have invested a lot of money to buy the phone what's another $20 to $30 for a case to protect it. I just bought the 4S and did not leave the store without a case, have dropped it once with the case on and it is still in one piece.

Not had good experience with free 1st time replacement wih 4S. As has been reported, corporate has told Genius Bar to put the kibosh on any free cosmetic (broken glass) swaps since they are now offering Apple Care + w/$49 dollar deductible.
Snowtrooper Jr dropped mommy's 4S and shattered the screen.
Been to three local Apple stores and no free love......
Happened on the 14th, late in the evening.
Called next day to get Apple Care + on both our 4S's, and was told that the 30 day window had expired, so we were looking @ 199 to replace her screen.
Was not to keen on non Apple replacement (which I could have done for 90 bucks) since that would have voided warranty.
Called a few times, let them know I was not offered Apple Care + when I bought the 4S's on launch day @ Sprint, and asked if they could make exception.
Finally was told on the 16th that after many calls like mine, they have extended the ability to purchase until next month.
Incidental damage replacement MAY incur deductible surcharge, according to sales, so once u do have Apple Care +, seems like Genius Bar has some flexibility again.
Gonna wait a few more days before I go back in for the new screen.
Will keep u posted......
