Iphone 4 people cant hear me during calls.

I recently have been having issues with people hearing me when i call them or i receive their calls. My sound works perfectly through Facetime and thru mic apps. What gives? Do I need to return my iphone to have this fixed? Resetting has not fixed the problem. =(

I had this issue for a couple of days - it would sometimes work after a hard reboot but happened no matter the voice input (regular, headphones, bluetooth headset). Seemed to come out of the blue. Took it in to genius bar this morning and they said they've been getting a lot of these lately, they weren't sure what the issue was and swapped out my phone.

I'm having the same issue with my iPhone that I got shipped from the US. It worked perfectly for the first 2 months and then suddenly, the other person cannot hear me. Sometimes I get lucky and I can carry on a conversation for about 15 - 20 seconds, but it goes blank again. Have restored and upgraded to 4.1 as well, yet the problem persists in the exact same fashion. Any help?

Thanks for the information, had the same frustrating problem and finally found your post after everything else that was suggested here to fix the problem didhn´t work.

I disassembled the phone and demounted the cover in the upper part of the iphone (above the battery) where several cable connectors (4) were hooked up to the main board. When lifting those I already noticed that they came off too easily. I reconnected them carefully using some pressure until a the connected with a noticeable little click. After putting everything back together the iphone 4 worked flawlessly. For my opinion there must be a glitch in the (probably automated) assembly process of this phone in China, whereny insufficient pressure is used by the robot connecting these cable shoes to the main board....
