To me this is really not understandable, about photo.

It seems really the case that my olympus ORF raw extention is not supported by photo. This amazes me very much. But.. I thought of a solution to this strange problem. I can convert my Orf to DNG. Apple would support DNG right? Of course! This is the most general raw file that exists!

Oh no, I seem to be mistaken! The DNG file isn't supported eighter!

How can this be possible?

How are you passing the DNG file to Affinity Photos?

When I am editing a DNG file (created by Adobe DNG Converter) with Affinity, I am getting different results, depending on how I am passing he file to Affinity.

  • When I am selecting DNG image in Photos and use "Image > Edit With" and select Affinity Photos, the image will be passed to Affinity as a TIFF.
  • When I am selecting DNG image in Photos, enlarge it, then click "Edit" and call the "Affinity Develop" extension, the image will be passed as a DNG file.
  • When I am selecting a RAW file (RW2) in Photos, enlarge it, then click "Edit" and call the "Edit with Affinity", the image will be passed as a RAW file.

It's Olympus' responsibility to provide Apple with the conversion code so Apple can include it in it's next update. So talk to Olympus about it.

You don't say what camera model you have. Here are the Olympus cameras that are supported by Mojave 10.14.2:
