Siri’s Voice Won’t Download

The iPhone needs another update

Still not working for me in 12.1.2 (16C101). American male and female voices and South African male and female voices download and work fine, but British, Irish, and Australian accents are stuck at 0% download (for several weeks now). I've restarted, changed locale, and force-downloaded Siri voices from Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> VoiceOver -> Speech -> Voice; nothing helps.

The voices download fine for VoiceOver but the voice-select screen for Siri continues to be hung at 0%.

Will no one from Apple help us with a solution? I too am having the same issue. Didn’t have a problem until I tried downloading the British Female voice. Stuck at 0%, and won’t progress past that no matter what I try... restarting, shutting down, force quitting the Settings app, etc. Haven’t tried resetting and restoring the whole phone, but that’s a bit extreme, don’t you think? The phone should purge the download cache, and restart the download if it is corrupted somehow, or restart incremental download segments, if that is how it works. Please pay attention to your users, and give us a solution! Thank you!

I had the same problem with the South African Accent. I was trying to play a joke on my daughter with her phone. It did not download after 10+ minutes.

You might just try a different accent.

Same here. iPhone XS can’t download anything but American male

Mine works fine as of the most recent update to iOS 12.1.2. All voices now download fine.

Please fix this bug- clearly we have tried all suggestions and still can’t download Siri voices. Powered off and on, tried with only WiFi, tried while charging....have most recent update.

Same issue here on a fully updated Xs. I had the Irish Female voice, decided to see what the British one sounded like. The British voice didn't download and now I can't re-select Irish. Choosing anything other than US shows the downloading indicator which never changes from 0%. Restarting didn't help, neither did toggling wifi.

Thanks for posting this, Sam. Just as a data point, this did not work for me. I also tried changing the "iPhone Language" in "Language and Region" (rather than the Region), as well as the Language listed in the Siri preferences. Nothing seemed to make any difference - I'm still stuck at 0% for everything but American Male and Female...

Having the same issue. I’ve tried restarting, turning off cellular, and a few other things but to no avail. I’m on 12.1.1 and I don’t want to update to 12.1.2 in case a jailbreak comes out. The voices download just fine on my iPad running 12.1.1 so it seems to be an iPhone issue.

@DGor99 - I was able to download the Siri voice through the Accessibility menu. When I go back to the Siri & Search options, and click on that accent, I do NOT get options for Male/Female as expected (no Gender section), though I also do NOT get the "This Siri voice will take effect when downloaded. 0% complete..." message either.

Did you have to take any additional steps?

Attempted: iPhone reboot; download both male and female Siri voices for target accent; change Language setting.
