keyboard serial number problem

I recently purchased an apple extended keyboard at the Apple Store in Milan, Italy. But now 2 of the keys are not working properly and I want to get service.

But the first step to getting service is to enter the serial number. Unfortunately, the serial number printed on the bottom of the keyboard doesn't work when entered online -- it keeps saying I enter an invalid number. Even when I try to communicate with Apple about this, they first ask about the serial # and again I cant get passed that step.

I thought the problem might be the confusion between an "0" and an "O" but I tried several possibilities and it still didn't work. Attached is a photo showing the serial number.

Thanks for any help.

If in doubt about your computer serial number, you can copy and paste the output directly from Terminal by entering:

 system_profiler SPHardwareDataType | awk '/Serial/ {print $NF}' | open -f

I'm aware of the address in Milan, but it's an hour ride for me to get there and it is much more convenient to take care of this online. Furthermore, my Italian is not so strong, which is another reason I wanted to take care of this online.

Is there any way for me to contact an Apple employee (who speaks English) either online or by phone about my faulty Apple Keyboard purchased ~2 months ago?

Thanks,
