how to find / create the folder "On My Mac" while even using iCloud Drive

hi

I started to used iCloud Drive while in High Sierra.

there was a folder that called "On My Mac".

file folder was a local folder and items in it were never synced to iCloud, or, removed from iCloud if you moved an iCloud item into that folder.

I did not create this folder. it was there and I somehow was able to get into the sidebar of Finder.

it was incredibly useful.

when I updated to Mojave, this file didn't go away.

I have just bought a new machine (new MacBook Air).

however for the life of me I can't locate this.

does this involve turning on hidden files or something?

how to get this folder back or make it anew?

there was a chance that maybe this folder was automatically created during High Sierra when I turned off iCloud Drive??

thanks

  • To search by file type, use the word “kind” and the file type. For example, type “kind:folders” or “kind:audio”.
  • To show the location of a file on your Mac, choose the file from the results list, then press and hold Command. The file’s location appears at the bottom of the preview. To open the file’s location, press Command-R.
  • To see all the results from your Mac in the Finder, scroll to the bottom of the results list, then double-click “Show all in Finder.”
