Macbook air model Model Model # MRE82LL/A

  • Costco is selling MacBook air model # Model # MRE82LL/A
  • How can I tell from the ads if it is an older mid 2017 or the new model?
  • I am a Costco member and I can get costco points as well as the savings if it is indeed the MacBook air (2018)

That model number is the 128GB Space Gray MBA with retina display. It's the new one.

BE CAREFUL:

Costco is offering the model listed, and it appears to be the new one.

But the Silver one being offered is NOT, or probably not.

Costco is offering Item 1308579, which has Apple part number ZOUU3LL/A Listed. I cannot find that part number, but I suspect it is a processor upgraded 2017 model. Here is the confusion with that offering:

The picture shows a 2017 model, notice the ports on the side view.

The processor specs indicate a 2017 with upgraded processor.

The screen specs indicate a 2018 model, I suspect that is a mistake.

There is no mention of touch ID which is a prominent feature of the 2018 model.

So I believe that model (and the equivalent with AppleCare) is the 2017 model.

I believe that item 1305573 and item 1305576, consistently describe the new 2018 model, the pictures (showing connectors) are correct, and the Apple part number maps to it as expected.

So the Silver is probably 2017 and the Space grey appears to be 2018.

I really appreciate your response .I am on the fence between the MacBook air and the MacBook Pro. My hobbies include photography, I have Lightroom and Photoshop on my 2013 iMac. I will use what ever I buy with my G-Tech external hard drive, a my Airport Extreme, and port for connecting to my camera .Given my needs which way would you go in selecting .

The 2017 model has the ports you need but the 2018 is the latest, and has a sharper screen, and that might pay off for photography (not so much for business apps IMHO). If you don't mind getting the dongles or accessories to communicate with the external drive and camera (maybe SD card reader, but the USB adapter might be enough), then I'd be tempted to get this (probably) one time chance at a discount on the latest 2018 model. I am super surprised that they are offering the discount on the new model (thats the space grey model).
