Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. Please post back on whether or not this worked. Also try the Safe Mode. Please post back on whether or not this worked.

Safe Mode - About








If it works in the Safe Mode, try running this program when booted normally and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor.  Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown.

The solution that worked is to replace the MobileDevice.framework folder using a backup, as suggested on hhttps://discussions.apple.com/thread/250021459

It was a bit of a pain to redo the soft links in this folder, but it worked and Safari now loads.


I wonder which application could have corrupted a file in this directory? I did not install anything recently that should have accessed it.

For what it's worth, by trial and error I found that the "offending" file is the new version of

/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework/Versions/A/MobileDevice

The new version is 3.8 MB, whereas the old version is 4.0 MB. Replacing it with the older version fixed the problem for me.

Not that this helps anyone, but maybe the developers can figure out where 200 KB went "missing" from the new version of this file (perhaps a missing image inside the file).
