Is there any way to import songs directly from home sharing?

If I recall there used to simply be an option to import music from a shared library to your current library (back when the home sharing icon used to be on the left menus, not the dropdown on the top). Even if I choose a song in the shared library and choose to add it to a playlist nothing happens. Basically I have an old laptop with a ton of songs on it that I want to transfer to a newer desktop by some way other than manually moving everything via USB.

So the main question is as per the title: any way to use home sharing to move the songs? Or any way to do it without having to resort to USB? Thanks.
