Is there something wrong with my FCPX or computer? I have always been able to export to a computer/mp4 in the 3840x2160 resolution but for some reason it only exports in 4096x2160 now. The only way I can get it to export in 3840x2160 is to export the video in m4v format.
Is there any way to export as an mp4 in 3840x2160 resolution again without having to export to m4v and converting it to an mp4?
This is extremely frustrating.
It is a general purpose preset, and if you want one specific to your needs, create it.
Preferences > Destinations > Add Destination
Double-click "Export File", rename it to something you'll recognize easily.
Tweak the settings as you like, these will be saved as the default.
Move it to whatever position in the menu you like.

I see the same thing. The option is not there in Preferences->Destinations.
BUT if you are sharing a project that is 3840x2160, you CAN click Settings, choose Computer and select 3840x1260:
Yes, the different targets give you presets for different purposes. But Apple Devices 4K should give you the 3840 size. I get it with that preset. Make sure you're on the latest version of everything, especially the Pro Video support package.
Apple Devices does, Computer doesn’t.
What else is offered in that menu? I still have that setting in mine.

I wasn't able to take a snapshot with the drop down menu open, but it has 854x480 960x540 1280x720 and 4096x2160.
It will show 3840x2160 but that is with the format: Apple Devices selected. If you were to set the devices to Computer, it will not have an option for 3840x2160. It saves the file as a m4v file if you export it using the Apple devices option.
I'm not sure what happened but it has been like this since the last update.
Thanks. It works. The only problem now is the preset keeps resetting the resolution to 960x540, so you have to manually select the 4k resolution every time you export.
FCPX will no longer export an mp4 in 3840x2160 resolution.
