iTunes causes Windows laptop to freeze

Whenever I play a movie purchased from the iTunes store, iTunes would freeze and require a force shutdown. Ctrl alt del and alt f4 will not work. My laptop is running the latest iTunes and windows 10.

I disabled the nvidia display adapter which appear to solve the problem. However the picture resolution is quite bad when running on the default windows driver. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach.

Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.

The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version as a workaround for installation or performance issues.

Your library and device backups should be unaffected by these steps but there are links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

I did also try the full version from Apple. I did remove the one from windows store. The same thing still happen. iTunes WILL freeze my PC randomly when I play a movie. In fact, I just bought the 10 movies package from iTunes a few hours ago. It froze my PC when I tried to play only the 2nd movie i Robot from will Smith. Really afraid to use iTunes. Can't use c+a+del. NOTHING WORKS. EXCEPT TO FORCE SHUT DOWN!!! Really concerned how this actions are damaging my pic e day by day!!! Thanks.

I have also contacted the official apple support for this excruciating problems and went thru every suggestions they provided to no avail!!! I kinda suspect iTunes may freeze my PC when playing movies with iTunes extras though I can't be sure. Still investigating. Really disappointed that despite paying good money for legitimate content, I have to suffer all these problems!!! Can't enjoy a movie without fear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF!!!

Thanks for the reply. My controlled folder access is set to OFF by default. Should I turn it on and allow iTunes access? Is it safe?

BTW, I have formatted my harddrive 5 times and went through installing everything new, including drivers and itunes and STILL have the same itunes freezing my PC randomly when playing movies that only a forced shut down can rectify. I have the latest itunes full version from apple and not from the windows store. Please advice. Thanks.
