How do I View the Back of My Amex Card in Wallet

When I set up Apple Pay and added my Amex card, two things happened that I don't understand.

I got a text with a verification code to "finish adding your Amex card to Apple Pay". There is no instructions about where to enter enter the code. I was never asked to enter the code. What is it for?

I got an email from Amex saying that:

"A Device Account Number has been created for your Card on this device. This number is separate and unique to your phone and different from your plastic Card number. If a merchant asks for your Card number after you've made a purchase with your Card in Apple Pay, please use the last 4 digits of the Device Account Number, which you can find by viewing the back of your Card in the Wallet app

There appears to be no way to see the back of the card in Apple Wallet. What am I missing? How do I see the code if a merchant asks?

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities! I understand that you would like to know how to view the Device Account number for your American Express card in Wallet on your iPhone. I would be happy to help.

With Wallet open, tap on the card, then tap on the three dots to the lower-right corner of your display. You should then see the last four digits of the Device Account Number. You can also go to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay, select your card, then scroll down to the 'Device Account Number' section.
