Hi Frank, nothing from MacPaw is safe. They are the developer's of the infamous CleanMyMac, which is practically malware!
Just because an app is in the AppStore doesn't mean it's safe to use. All it means is that it conforms to Apple's requirements for the AppStore.
What type of duplicates are you looking to delete? Generally speaking, you're best off doing all your cleaning manually. Since your Mac is running well there's no need for any cleaning.
macjack,
Thanks for getting back to me today and thanks for telling me this I am glad I did not download it now. i am trying to find pictures and documents and misc stuff and try to free up space for free. I think your right do it manually.
Thank you my friend your always there for me.
Have a great holiday and a Happy New Year 2019 and all your help to me I feel like we are fiends. I woke up top snow on the grass and on car and 33 degrees here in CT. What about you?
Thank you my friend I appreciate all your help. You must be on here all the times you are 3 hours behind me 6:54 am were your at. How do I add emojis on here now?
Thank you my friend.
You're fine. No worries.
I did remove all those for some reason they still show up but they will be gone in 30 days I think. I ran EasyFind and found no more files that were hidden and found nothing. I do not know why they do not come off report. I took your advice really all of them are gone. Unless you can tell me how to get them off my report?
That's because you're on Flags. There are lots of other groups of emojis, if that's what you mean.
The commando article is just more scare. Apple has already patched the vulnerability.
Yes, you're right BitDefender should disappear after 30 days but f-secure is still present in Safari. Go to Safari menu > Preferences > Extensions and find and delete it.
Hmm, then I'm not sure why it would show up in Safari extensions in your Etrecheck report.
TrafficLight is BitDefender and should be uninstalled. I'd also uninstall Ghostry. Your web browsing will be faster. IMO you are overly concerned about security on a home use machine. There's nothing that's going to attack your Mac through normal use and even if you should pick up any adware Malwarebytes will take care of it.
OK cool will do this but I do not know why it shows up on report still when I uninstalled them already. Like I mentioned to you I use EasyFind from Apple Store and cannot find any files it comes up blank and clear.
Thank you again have a great weekend my friend.
Yes, they do show on your report and should be deleted:
Safari Extensions:
Ghostery.safariextz - GHOSTERY, Inc. - https://www.ghostery.com/ (installed 2018-09-18)
Browsing protection.safariextz - F-Secure - http://www.f-secure.com (installed 2018-08-29)
TrafficLight.safariextz - Bitdefender SRL - http://trafficlight.bithttp://trafficlight.bitdefender.com/
I don't think EasyFind shows Safari extensions.
How much space is left on your hard drive? A good rule of thumb is to have at least 10-15% free disk space.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you. No snow in San Diego yet! 😎
Here is what my iMac looks like and check out my etracheck report.
Thanks again Oh yes forgot you were in CA.
You're fine. No worries.
Actually I see you're still running BitDefender and f-secure. I though you had uninstalled these? Uninstall them as per the developer's instructions.
Control-command-space bar brings up the emoji menu.
Is there any other way to find the software to delete this off report? I use EasyFind the app from Apple Store.
Here are my extensions,
