When I call someone it works perfectly fine.
However, when I just open the application, I see the camera section after a while and it really takes like 3-4 seconds until the contacts appear.
Also when Is switch from 'all' to 'missed' it also is quite choppy and laggy.

After reviewing your post, it sounds like the FaceTime app is working, but seems to be a little laggy. One thing you can do is to boot using safe mode and see if the app is still laggy. Safe mode will disable other software loading in the background. Take a look at the If an issue doesn't happen in safe mode section.

I rebooted using safe mode and all I can say is it made FaceTime slightly less laggy.
Any other way we could troubleshoot this? I like to use FaceTime to make calls using handoff, but the lag is so annoying.
Only FaceTime lags, nothing else.
